Mountain View Weekly Update

- The deadline to order a 2023-2024 Mountain View Middle School yearbook is today. Click here to order. A reminder that 8th grade students will automatically receive a copy.

- Marking period 3 report cards will be released on the Parent Portal this afternoon. In the second semester, fifth grade students with a minimum 90% average in all Core classes and a minimum score of "Developing" in all work habits will earn Honor Roll distinction.

- Attention 5th, 6th, and 7th grade parents: Over the next several weeks, the Parent Portal will open for 2023-2024 Related Arts course request submission. Current 6th and 7th graders met with the Related Arts team to review course options. An email from Mrs. Toth containing specific instructions in forthcoming.

- If your child is 14 years of age and planning to look for a summer job, please visit Ms. Walsh's website for information about how to apply for working papers. Please note that there are multiple steps involved in securing the right signatures in the appropriate order. Please contact Mrs. McGarry (mcgarry@mendhamboroschools.org) when you begin this process so we can assist you in securing your child's papers in a timely fashion.

Happy Friday Mountain View! I hope everyone had a great week and got to enjoy the sunshine and fresh air! Today was an Advisory Friday and a Spirit Day. April is World Autism Month, as a school district, we all wore blue to raise awareness for Autism Spectrum Disorder. In Advisory today, all grades learned more about Autism Spectrum Disorder through the lens of David, a young boy who struggles to join his brother and friends at the arcade due to being overstimulated. David helped to explain how no two individuals with ASD are the same- like snowflakes. The spectrum is not linear, it is more like an infinity shape. After learning from David, students discussed how individuals with ASD utilize coping skills when they are overstimulated. Check out this video shared with the students. Have a great weekend!
