Message From the Principal
Dear Beaverton Parents and Community Members,
I hope you are all well and doing your part to keep everyone safe by social distancing. I am really mourning the loss of school as we know it. I miss our kids. I miss my teachers. I miss the human interaction and variety that a school day brings. Being a school principal is my passion and gives me purpose, so I'm a bit lost right now.
I know many of you are feeling the same way.
We are navigating the daily changes as a school on a daily basis, so it's very important that you and your student are checking email every day. Our students are not used to email as a communication tool, so please help support your student to do this every day.
I will be sending a school communication once a week to better help you feel informed and connected.

Forecasting Information for 6th and 7th Graders
Dear Students,
With schools closed, we will need to do your elective forecasting for next school year online. This needs to be done as soon as possible. It also needs to be done from your student email to access it. It will be easiest to open from your chromebook.
NOTE: You do not have to take a class in 6th or 7th grade to sign up for it next year, except for Band. It is difficult to start band in 7th or 8th grade unless you have some experience with playing an instrument already. If you would like to take band for the first time as a 7th or 8th grader, please email me with you experience playing music to help guide a decision. My email is megan_clifford@beaverton.k12.or.us.
Directions:
Rank order EVERY elective class. If for some reason your first choice is not available, I will try to put you into your second choice, etc. You can only have one class selected for each ranking number (only 1- #1 choice, 1- #2 choice, etc.). You will not be able to submit your form if you did not do this step correctly.
*AVID, Core+, ESL and Learning strategies are not included because
students are selected for those courses. You will be in those classes again
without needing to put it on your sheet.
Enter your legal first and last name- no nick-names and both last names if you have two of them! Your ID number must be correct, or you may not get into the classes that you ask for. Your ID number and your lunch number are the same number.
If you are a 6th grader, your form will say “7th grade” since you will be a 7th grader next year.
If you are a 7th grader, it will say “8th grade” but ONLY fill it out if you did not already do this with your science teacher and counselor. Most of you already filled it out.
If you are an 8th grader, you already did your high school forecasting :-)
Show the form to your parent, and enter their name under parent signature.

If you are a 6th grader fill out this form
If you are a 7th grader fill out this form if you did not do it through science
If you have questions, you can ask them here
Be well!

How Will Teachers Be Communicating?
Like everything else, things change quickly. The goal for next week is to re-establish student-teacher connections, not doing lots of work. The academics will come, don't worry. Right now we want to let all our students know how much we miss them and care about them.
