Matador Band Finishes Strong Season
The Matador Band is under the direction of: Marc Telles, Samantha DiMatteo, David Witherspoon, Brad Samsen, and Heather Brown.
Mariachi Student National Finalist
Taytum Rangel, 11th grade Seguin HS student, earned the prestigious recognition of being named a 2021 National Vocal Competition Finalist for the Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza. The ages of the finalists range from 8 to 24 years old and represent students from nearly 20 cities across the country. Rangel is one of only five finalists from the greater San Antonio area.
First, second, and third place winners will be selected in elementary/middle school, high school, and college/university categories during the December extravaganza. One student will be selected as the overall Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza National Grand Champion Vocalist.

SHS Theatre Entertains Thousands

Junior Thespians Win Awards
Barnes MS student Eleanor Crettenden, and Briesemeister MS students Olivia Busskohl and Katelynn Bates, won awards at the Texas State Junior Thespian Festival on October 23rd.
Crettenden won 3rd place in the Shakespearean Monologue event. The event included memorizing a Shakespearean monologue and performing it. The student then was asked to rewrite the monologue, translate it into modern English, and perform the new version. Congratulations Eleanor!
Busskohl and Bates received a 1st place award for costume design. The students had to be able to present and explain design choices as well as demonstrate an artistic and practical knowledge of costume design. Congratulations Katelynn and Olivia!
One-Act Play Festival Coming Soon

Choir Students Earn All-Region Honors!
Thirteen Seguin High School students have earned a position in the TMEA All-Region Choir! These students will perform in a clinic and concert with an All-Region choir on November 13th at Alamo Heights High School. Five of these students were chosen to advance to the Pre-Area round which will take place on November 30th. Congratulations to these outstanding musicians on this achievement!!
