MR. HORNE'S MESSAGE
BA Families,
It has been a great first few days of school so far. We continue to work through a few hiccups with dismissal. If you haven't already done so, please make sure your child's teacher knows their dismissal plan (bus, car rider, JCPRD, walker). Safety is always top priority, and we want to get students home safely and efficiently. Please know that by state law school buses are required to pick up all children at bus stops in the morning. However, if you have not set up busing with DS Bus Company your child may not be allowed to ride the bus home if they aren't rostered.
Classroom teachers have been leading students through safety drills this week. Please know that next week we will be practicing all of the drills as a school. This includes fire, tornado, and Code Red (A threat inside the building -on Thursday, August 24). You can review our district emergency procedures here as well.
I am looking forward to an exceptional school year!

DAYS OF THE WEEK
● Starting the week of Monday, August 21st
● K, 1st, 2nd, & 3rd grades on Mondays & Wednesdays
● 4th, 5th, & 6th grades on Tuesdays & Thursdays
● No Club on Fridays
TIME & LOCATION
● 7:50 - 8:05am in the gym
RULES
● Breakfast is the first priority. Students should eat breakfast before coming to Running Club. They will not be able to leave Running Club to go to breakfast. We don’t want kids being late to class at 8:10am.
● Students can come into the gym to run or walk anytime between 7:50-8:05am. Once arrived, students will stay in the gym until 8:05am. Students need to walk laps if they don’t want to run anymore.
● There will be a designated spot for book bags and water bottles.
● The school behavior rubric still applies. Children will be dismissed from the gym for anything other than minor behavior problems. Bottom line, all kids will keep their hands to themselves and words kind.
○ 1st offense = Verbal warning for minor behaviors but can keep running.
○ 2nd offense = Miss the next day.
○ 3rd offense = Out for the quarter and parents will be contacted.
● Students can run or walk. No tag or other games and equipment will be allowed.
● Students will grab a popsicle stick for every lap they complete. When finished, they will record their laps to Coach Klumpe. MILE CLUB (1 lap = .05 mile / 20 laps = 1 mile)
● Mileage will be totaled throughout the school year
We will recognize students on the intercom and also at assemblies for their dedication and hard work.
○ 25 Miles = White Shirt
○ 50 Miles = Grey Shirt
○ 75 Miles = Navy Shirt
○ 100 Miles = Black Shirt
