The Mary Rowlandson staff would like to invite all parents and guardians to our annual Open House. During the Open House each teacher will give a presentation and have their classrooms open for you to tour. Come learn about grade level curriculum, classroom procedures, homework and expectations. Open House is a great opportunity for you to experience your child’s classroom. Listed below are the times each grade level classroom will be open and the corresponding presentation time. Each grade level has a time for a presentation and then there is time to informally visit the student’s classroom.

Grade 1
6:00 to 7:30 with the presentation starting at 6:00 in the auditorium

Grade 2
6:30 to 8:00 with the presentation starting at 6:30 in the auditorium

Grade 3
6:00 to 7:30 with the presentation starting at 7:00 in cafeteria

Grade 4
6:00 to 7:30 with the presentation starting at 7:00 in the auditorium

Grade 5
6:30 to 8:00 with the presentation starting at 7:30 in the auditorium

All specialists (Art, Music, Physical Education, Technology, Library, Health, Special Education staff, Interventionists and Reading Specialists) will be available from 6:30 – 8:00.

Preschool and Kindergarten will not be presenting at Open House as information sessions for parents were held previously.

Picture Day took place with CoffeePond Photography on Thursday, Sept. 14th. Picture orders are expected in 4-6 weeks at which time they will be distributed to classroom teachers to be sent home with students.

Picture Retake Day
Students that were absent on picture day will have an opportunity to have their picture taken on retake day. The date has not yet been scheduled but we will share that information once we have it. At that time, any student that wishes to have their photo retaken may do so. Students who would like a retake must return their original portrait package to the photographer on Retake Day.

We typically have more than 50 cars that go through drop off in the morning, and we strive to get the cars through as quickly as possible so the adults dropping off aren't late for their other obligations. Please help us make the drop off process more efficient for everyone by observing the following procedures:

1. When dropping off, please pull up along the sidewalk as far as you can go. This allows us to get the greatest possible number of students out of their cars and into the building with each round of drop-offs.

2. Parents should not exit their cars in the drop off line as it slows the process down greatly. Anyone wishing to exit their vehicle to support their child's transition can park in the parking lot or on the basketball courts next to the parking lot and walk their children up to the school.

No early drop off will be permitted - drop off begins at 8:25 AM. The drop-off concludes at 8:35, and traffic direction shifts in front of the school to facilitate the arrival of preschool students.

1. Students will be dismissed from the gymnasium through the exterior door near the kindergarten playground. Please do not walk to the MRE front door for dismissal, unless prior arrangements have been made.

2. As you loop around the school, please pull up to the farthest cone you are able and wait for your child or children to be sent out. If possible, please place a sign on your dashboard with your family name.

Parents should not arrive to pick up students before 2:50. This will prevent interference with LBMS pick up procedures

Our goal, as always, is to transition students safely into and out from the building as safely and efficiently as possible. Thank you for your assistance.

Ensuring a smooth dismissal process for your child requires your cooperation in sharing their regular dismissal plans with the teacher and office. This information is vital for us to execute your intended dismissal arrangements effectively and maintain an orderly process.

To facilitate a seamless adjustment to the days plan, please email your child's teacher and copy MREattendance@nrsd.net before 8:30 am on the school day. While teachers and staff might not always have the chance to check emails throughout the day, notifying us early helps us accommodate changes without disrupting the learning environment. Remember, whenever a change is made, it necessitates a call to the classroom, which will interrupt ongoing lessons. Changes should only be made for emergency purposes. For emergency changes on the same day, please contact the office no later than 2:30 pm.

Regarding Extended Day Dismissal, we kindly request that you keep both the teacher and the Extended Learning Team informed. An ideal way to do this is by sending a single email addressed to both the Extended Learning Team and MREattendance@nrsd.net.

Dee Bus Co. serves as our dedicated bus transportation provider. Please click the link below to view bus routes as well as the School Bus Resolution Protocol.

Please note that students are permitted to use the bus service for transportation to and from their registered home address. It is not possible for students to take a different bus to a friend's residence. In such instances, alternative arrangements should be made.

The safety of our students is our highest priority and the Raptor visitor management system allows us to quickly identify those that may present a danger to our students. Thank you in advance for your understanding and your support in enhancing the school safety protocols in our district.

Looking to help support the school and the students... Join the PTO! Becoming a member of the PTO does not require your attendance at meetings (though your presence is appreciated!). It's a means of contributing to the schools and students by providing funding for field trips, events, and activities. The PTO recently distributed a flyer to all families, offering you the opportunity to join.
