The IMS Connection
Volume 16, Issue 8: MAY 2020
Greetings Islip Families,
I hope this note finds you well. As we begin the 4th quarter, your health, safety, and emotional well-being continue to be our paramount concern. While there are glimmers of good news being reported, we ask you to stay vigilant in your approach to social and physical distancing. Now that the governor has closed schools for the remainder of the school year, the IMS team will be reviewing all of the end of year events.
I am aware there are many questions about the End of Year activities, such as concerts, awards, moving up, and other exciting activities that make Islip Middle School a great place to learn and grow. We will make every attempt to provide you updates, as this is not only and Islip challenge, but a statewide challenge in reference to school events. At this time, decisions are being made on a case by case basis.
By now you should be aware of the grading procedure IMS will use for the fourth quarter and final grades. We will have fourth quarter Pass/ Fail with academic and effort comments. Details are available on the IMS eBoard.
I want to continue to emphasize, should you have any questions or challenges, please contact me, Mr. Cohen, your child’s teacher, counselor, social worker, or psychologist. All of our contact information is available on the Middle School eBoard.
Thank you in advance for your understanding and support.
Wishing you good health and happiness,
Dr. Martin
Greetings IMS Family,
I hope you are well and staying safe. It is hard to believe that it has been 8 weeks since I have been in the company of our IMS students and staff. I truly long for the days when we can be back together. As much as I hope to see you all soon I know that us coming back together must only be done when it can be done safely.
We are continually updating the IMS eBoard with any new information so check it regularly. Please continue to stay in touch with your teachers and reach out to them with any concerns or challenges you may be facing.
As always be well and stay safe and remember Family Above All Else!!
Mr. Cohen
