From the Hawk Nest

This year we have a staff theme called, You Matter. This is a theme that allows us to pause our busy schedules and tell others how they make a difference and how they matter to us.

Perhaps you're impressed with a staff member with something positive he/she did? Maybe you're thankful for the lunch staff for feeding your child? Are impressed with the cleanliness of the building? What about the office staff and how you were greeted with a smile- just when you needed one?

If someone at HSE has made a difference, provided joy with a kind gesture, or verbalized a word or two of encouragement, fill out a shout out and drop it off in the office. We'll post these on the bulletin board near the entrance to share all the great people that make Harvey-Swanson what it is!

Attention all Harvey-Swanson Elementary students! Be sure to bring your Dollar Dog coins to school with you on Friday, January 13th! MSU/OU Federal Credit Union will be bringing in an array of Dollar Dog prizes for students with Dollar Dog coins to choose from. If you don’t currently have any Dollar Dog coins, don’t worry! There will be plenty of opportunities during the rest of the school year to make deposits and receive coins. Remember, Dollar Dog prizes are available at MSUFCU/OUCU branches, so you can always visit a branch to redeem your coins for prizes.

Recess time is a part of the daily school program. Students should come to school dressed to go out for recess. Please dress your child according to the weather conditions. Recess will be indoors when the temperature is under 15 degrees Fahrenheit or the wind chill factor is below 0 degrees Fahrenheit.

The Brandon Township Library has a large selection of children’s chapter books for sale for students up to sixth grade. You can purchase a bag of children’s books for only $1.00 a bag.

Also, our mini golf fundraiser has started! You can come out to play on Mon-Thurs. from 12-8 pm, Fridays 12-4 pm and Saturdays from 10-2 pm. It's only $1.00 a person a round.

The H.E.L.P. group is another great way to get involved with HSE. We are currently planning assemblies, special days for the students, and developing creative ideas in supporting teachers. Our next meeting is Thursday, January 19th at 4:00pm in the HSE Library. Stop by and join us! You can also connect through Facebook
