This Week in Art
1 November 2018
Art II Christmas Ornaments
Halle, grade 8 - In art this week, we painted our Christmas ornaments that will be sent to Washington, DC, and hung on the Alabama Christmas tree on the Ellipse, near the National Christmas Tree. After we painted, we sealed the ornaments. Some students painted their own ornaments to take home and hang on their Christmas tree. We all made different creations. We really enjoyed this project. We were very lucky to be chosen for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Eighth Grade Art Field Trip
Gracie, grade 8 - This week, on Tuesday, we went on a field trip to the Hunter Museum of American Art and the Tennessee Aquarium. First, at the Hunter Museum, we were guided around and were taught about the art. Next, we went to the IMAX theater to eat Zaxby's. Finally, we went to the aquarium and saw the most fascinating animals, especially the penguins. This is what we did on our amazing field trip.

Art I
Riley, grade 7 - On Monday, we had a random art material and we started off with a drawing. We drew for a minute, passed our paper, and added on to the drawing we were given. On Tuesday, we read an article about Tim Burton and answered questions about the content. On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, we practiced optical illusion drawings and making an Op Art cube.
Sixth Grade Art Rotation
Kate, grade 6 - This week we did lots of things. On Monday we finished coloring our observation picture. We only used warm colored pastels. On Tuesday we read an article about Tim Burton and answered eleven questions. On Wednesday we painted what is our background to our observation picture. Thursday we learned how to use Artsonia. We put some of our artwork on Artsonia. On Friday we finished our rubric to our warm and cool colors picture. We also learned about Dia de los Muertos and early finishers did a coloring page based on the holiday Dia de los Muertos.
Art II sketchbook assignment
Due Thursday 11/8: Cooperation: working together to do more than you can do alone.
Art II sketchbook assignments should look finished, with details, shading and background. They should look like they took about a class period to complete. They are due every Thursday.
