As we move into fall and it gets colder out please make sure your students are appropriately dressed. All students go outside everyday unless it is -10 degrees below windchill.

**Start preparing for winter weather too as it could come earlier than anticipated.

Make sure to label student's items with their names or initials so they can be easily identified if they lose them.

Just like that it is already October! The leaves are changing, the days are getting shorter, but the learning never stops for our elementary students! September lessons for Kindergarten through 3rd grade focused on the Zones of Regulation (ask your student about the 4 zones!) and emotions! The Fourth through Sixth grade focused on learning styles (ask your student what the three main learning styles we looked at are!) and inclusion. October will be focusing on listening skills, growth mindset, and expected vs unexpected behavior.

• I graduated from Valley City State University and North Dakota State University.

• This is the start of my 13th year of teaching at Minnewaukan.

• I am the 6th grade homeroom teacher.

• I also teach 4th-5th-6th grade math but my favorite subject is History.

• My hobbies include: gardening, traveling to new places, spending time with family, swimming & watching movies.

Hi my name is Amy Ertelt and I am the Pre-K Teacher at Minnewaukan Public School. This will be my 22nd year teaching and 15th year at Minnewaukan Public School. I have a husband, two children, and three cats. My daughter, Matty, will be graduating from High School this year and my son, Jaxon, is in 7th grade. When I am not teaching my favorite little people, I enjoy hanging out with my family, going for bike rides, swimming, or watching scary movies.

Minnewaukan Public School's high school culture committee, the Indigenous Uprising, planned Every Child Matters day on September 29th. The students worked with students in grades PK-12 to make sure each student's handprint was displayed in the school. They also made posters to share out that students were to wear orange on this day to represent the lives and culture lost in the boarding schools. Richard Street presented to the school about the boarding schools and empowering our youth to help to bring back their culture.

The Indigenous Uprising members include Zaeonna Redfox, Persaeus Longie, Naomi Smith, and Allura Greybear.

Each grade level will be eligible to receive student of the month.

They will be recognized on the school website and FB page as well as receive a small reward for their accomplishment.

Student engagement staff will look for when nominating a student of the month:

• Good Attendance!
• Completion of Work!
• Collaborates well with peers and staff!
• Follows school expectations!
