Crockett Students attend UIL Academics Activity Conference at UT
Up and coming stars and returning champions took part in a Student Activity Conference to learn more about their upcoming competitions for UIL Academics!
Will Lott and Harper Sloan checked out Math, Accounting, and Computer Science events. Esmee Lown got the scoop on Social Studies, and Princess Mondragon Reynoso learned about the Current Events contest. Teacher sponsors Ms. Gibson, Mr. Huq, and Mr. Miller had a great time learning along with their students. Being on campus at UT was a first time thrill for some, while other students and teachers have fond memories of UT from field trips, contests, and classes. Mr. Huq used to hang out at his father's biology lab at UT when he was a boy! Crockett academic teams will compete against other schools in March 2023.
History has been made in the Crockett Band!
Matthew Chavez (11) auditioned on alto saxophone for a chair in the Texas All-State Jazz Ensemble, for which only four students in the entire state are chosen from all 5A and 6A schools.
Matthew won FIRST CHAIR in the ENTIRE STATE!!!
This is a HUGE accomplishment that Matthew has been working towards since his freshman year, and it's Crockett's highest chair won by any student in the all-state process in any year (as far back as I can look in the all-state records)!
Thespian Success!!!
Texas Thespians hosted over 10,000 to attend our festivals in San Antonio and Grapevine during the week prior to Thanksgiving break.
Crockett's National's Qualifiers were Mia Chen for Solo Monologues and Kaleb Aziz for Sound Design! Our troupe also won an All Star Troupe Winner Trophy for their troupe display showing their outstanding theatrical troupe involvement in both school performance and community outreach. The student's were competing against 7000 other students in Dallas this year, representing schools from all over the state. Those who qualify for Nationals will be eligible to compete in June either in person or virtually against students from all over the USA.
Roaring Twenties at Crockett ECHS
Crockett students taking US History were seen popping into an underground speakeasy after they returned from Thanksgiving break! These juniors were given a sequence of Roaring Twenties puzzles that led them all over the campus, with the last one revealing the location of the party, and the secret password to get inside. Music, lights, a photo booth, and soft drinks were on hand. Teachers and students had a great time celebrating our learning about this important era of American history. Several flappers and bootleggers said that this party was the cat's meow!
