Plano ISD Extends Closure through the End of the School Year
In response to Governor Abbott’s April 17 executive order, Plano ISD schools will remain closed and will continue with remote learning through May 22, the last day of the school year, as we support the community, region and nation’s need to slow the spread of COVID-19.
We wish to express gratitude to our entire community of families, staff, volunteers and community partners for your patience and support during these uncertain times as we’ve all begun adapting to this new way of delivering and receiving instruction.
Thank you to our families for all that you are doing to support your children in their learning. Please continue taking care of yourselves and your families during this time.
Eagle Counselors' Corner
Hello Eagles!
For our Social Emotional Learning (SEL) activity this week, we are starting with a Community or Family Circle. Please choose a talking piece to use as your family answers the following questions together. The person holding the talking piece answers the question while the other members of the family listen. We use our "Mohawk Duck." It can be a fun activity to choose your talking piece.
Circle Questions for this week:
Today I feel .....
What is one worry you have about today?
What is one joy you have about today?
What is the funniest joke you know by heart?
Activity for the week:
Put each family members name in a hat, on a spinning wheel or come up with another fun way to randomly choose a name. The person who is chosen gets to decide a fun activity for the family to do that week (go for a walk, play a favorite board game, watch a movie) and choose a family dinner or dessert for the week (they could even prepare the meal - or help). Choose a different person each week and have some fun!!!!

Remote Learning - Phase 3
PISD has launched Phase 3 of the Remote Learning Plan for School Closure. Initial information was shared with our Plano ISD community and is linked on our district website, but we would like to share what Phase 3 means for our students while we can't meet face to face. For many of our core courses, we are using a new online platform called Edgenuity along with the learning that teachers will be designing and sharing with students using Google Classroom.
Students can access Edgenuity through a new tile that has been placed on their WebDesk home screen. As students launch Edgenuity, they are required to watch an orientation video that provides directions on how to use the platform.
Here is the link to access the Student Overview Video that launched when students accessed the platform for the first time.
Each Monday, our teachers will post lessons and assignments using the Edgenuity platform and will provide communication regarding any additional assignments needed to support student learning. Each Sunday, students will need to complete and submit that week's assignments to their teachers. Each Friday, teachers will review and post grades from the previous week's assignments. Grades will be posted as Met Standard (MS) or Not Met Standard (NM), as numerical grades will not be posted for individual assignments during Remote Learning. Each grade will be weighted as a daily grade and will only be counted once. Students will be given 2 attempts to complete/submit each assignment in Edgenuity and may contact their teachers to request additional support/assistance if needed. More information on grading guidelines may be found here: https://www.pisd.edu/Page/22656
For example, all Math assignments for the week of April 20th-24th are posted today (Monday, 4/20). Students will have until Sunday, 4/26 at midnight to complete and submit their completed work. Teachers will review and post grades for those assignments by Friday, 5/1. Students are encouraged to ask questions and attend teacher office hours/tutorials throughout the week for assistance with their classwork as well as submit completed work before the deadline each Sunday evening.
More information and helpful links will continue to be provided and updated on our district website.
