Hemingway in Comics (including Disney!)

Friday, August 11 at 7 PM

Free and open to the public

Don't miss this fascinating talk about a mash-up between Hemingway's classic novels and Disney characters like Mickey and Donald. Chicago author and journalist Rob Elder will share images and explain how this very interesting, unique project came to exist. Books will be available to purchase and have signed.

The Songs of J. Will Callahan

Tuesday, August 15 at 7 PM

Free and open to the public

Local author Mary Jane Doerr will speak about her latest book, The Songs of J. Will Callahan: Tin Pan Alley's Blind Lyricist. Callahan was a Petoskey-Bay View resident who wrote nearly 300 songs in the early part of the 20th century. His 1917 song Smiles sold 5 million copies.

Research Workshops

Are you interested in researching the history of your home or business? Do you need help with researching your family? Our Research Workshop will help you learn how to use online resources as well as resources available at the museum library. We have a large collection of maps, city guides, and photographs for you to explore. Bring your own laptop or tablet if possible. Free for members/$10 per session for non-members. Pre-registration is appreciated because space is limited. Call 347-2620 or email jane@petoskeymuseum.org.

Vintage Views Walking Tours

Our 90 minute guided walking tour uses Viewmaster images so you can see what Petoskey used to look like while walking around downtown. We offer Vintage Views Walking Tours every Saturday at 2 PM and by appointment. $10 members/$15 non-members.
