Boerne ISD Board Report

The Boerne ISD Board of Trustees held their regular monthly meeting in the BISD Board Room on Monday, November 13th, 2023.

This month's Board meeting included:

• Reports to the Board
• New Course Recommendations
• Board Commendations
• Dr. Price honored
• Character Counts
• Student Limelight Recipient
• Superintendent's Report

The Board heard the following reports and/or updates from District Administration (The reports can be found on the agenda link above)

• Early Childhood Update: BISD will review enrollment and current programming for grades PK-2.
  
• New Secondary Course Recommendations for 2024-2025 school year: After campus and district leadership input, District Administration will present a finalized list of new courses that need approval for the 24-25 school year.
  
• District Technology Update: BISD will implement a robust District Technology Plan to enhance student learning.

The Board also:

• Appointed Kendall County Appraisal District Board Members and passed a Voting Resolution for Bexar and Comal Appraisal District Board Members
  
• Nominated Trustee Rich Sena as a candidate to the TASB Board of Directors
• Approved the monthly purchasing report
• Approved the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report
• Approved the monthly personnel report
• Approved the BISD 2024-27 District Technology Plan

The Board approved new academic courses for the 2024-25 school year. The new courses include:

• Fundamentals of Real Estate
• Game Programming & Design
• Intro to Computer Aided Design & Drafting

In all, the Board approved 10 new courses and four instructional initiatives for the 2024-25 school year.

Thank you to the Fair Oaks Ranch Student Council for leading the Pledge of Allegiance and the Texas Pledge.

The Board commended Boerne ISD students and staff, as well as celebrated district-wide honors. Below are some of the honorees.

• Sofia Schnoke (CHS- JDRF Ambassador)
• Champion High School (National AP School Honor Roll)
• Boerne Blaze Swimming

Dr. Price was presented a plaque by Board President Carlin Friar in honor of his seven years as BISD Superintendent.

When the next Superintendent officially begins their tenure in 2024, Dr. Price will transition to Superintendent Emeritus and serve as an advisor until his retirement at the end of the year.

Fabra Principal Troy Latiolais and BISD students updated the Board on the success and mission of Boerne Outdoor Academy (BOA).

Boerne ISD 5th-graders at all elementary schools participate in BOA. It is a special experience for all involved.

Boerne ISD has named the Student Limelight Recipient for October.

Congratulations to Fabra 5th-grader -grader Alex Barnes!

We are proud of him!

• At his final Board meeting, Dr. Price thanked the Board, staff, and community for the support during his seven years as Superintendent
• Dr. Price reiterated how fortunate and grateful he is to have been able to serve as BISD Superintendent
• BISD is working with Alamo College on future CTE academic courses as well as adult learning classes
• Nearly 80% of the Bond 2022 projects are either in design or construction
• The 1st-year bond projects will all be complete prior to August 2024
