PRINCIPAL'S UPDATE
Hello Eagle Crest Families!
As the vibrant fall season embraces us with its colorful foliage and invigorating air, we're entering a time of exciting learning and growth at our beloved school. Our students are buzzing with enthusiasm, eager to dive into new topics, and determined to push their academic boundaries.
We can't stress enough just how crucial your child's presence in school is to their success. Each day they spend here is a precious opportunity for them to soak up knowledge and blossom. When students miss school, it becomes more challenging for them to catch up with their studies.
The great news is that research has shown a powerful connection between school attendance and student triumph. Those who consistently attend school tend to achieve higher grades, excel on tests, and have higher graduation rates. This lays a strong foundation for their future success in college and their chosen careers.
We're thrilled to share that our school has been setting an outstanding example in this regard. Our attendance percentage has consistently remained above an impressive 90.6 percent since the beginning of the year! This remarkable achievement is a testament to the unwavering commitment of our families and staff to ensure every student's path to success. We even make it a fun and educational experience by sharing daily attendance numbers during our morning announcements and plotting them on a graph to celebrate our progress. Take a peek at the chart below to see our fantastic attendance journey for the first 33 days of school!
Our district’s guideline is that any absences beyond 12 will be marked as unexcused. This helps us ensure that each student maintains an attendance percentage above 93%, which is considered the minimum required for making steady progress. Rest assured, this policy is in place solely to empower all our students to reach their full potential.
We understand that there may be occasions when your child needs to miss school for valid reasons. We encourage you to have a heartfelt conversation with your child about the significance of school attendance and to collaborate with us to minimize absences whenever possible. If you find yourselves facing challenges in maintaining regular school attendance, please remember that our doors are always open to you. Feel free to reach out to me or our dedicated school counselor, Angie Kerbel. We are here to support you and your child every step of the way on your journey to success.
Warmly,
Amanda
P.S. I hope to see you at the Laps for Leadership Fundraiser Kick-off, tomorrow, after school in the bus loop. It will be fun!
