Winkley Elementary Update

Dear Winkley Elementary School families,

It is with great concern that I reach out to you regarding an automobile accident involving a Winkley student that occured this morning prior to school starting.

At approximately 7:20 a.m. a Winkley student on a bicycle collided with a pickup truck on Osage Dr. The student’s parents were nearby and transported the child to Dell Children’s for treatment. We have confirmed the child is doing very well, and we appreciate your respect for the family’s privacy as we work to support them.

We ask our community to continue to drive carefully, especially around schools. Please consult this map for the safest routes to school, including a crossing guard at Lakeline Blvd. Thank you for reminding your children the safest crossing is where they see the crossing guards. Please reach out to us if your student needs extra support, as our counselor is always available to them. Thank you for your continued support of Winkley Elementary.

Es con mucha preocupación que hoy me dirijo a ustedes con respecto a un accidente automovilístico ocurrido esta mañana a un estudiante de Winkley antes de comenzar las clases.

Aproximadamente a las 7:20 a.m., un estudiante de Winkley que iba en bicicleta chocó con una camioneta en Osage Drive. Los padres del estudiante estaban cerca y transportaron al estudiante inmediatamente al Hospital Infantil Dell. Hemos confirmado que el estudiante está recuperándose muy bien y apreciamos el respeto a la privacidad de la familia en este momento, mientras trabajamos en cómo apoyarlos.

Le pedimos a nuestra comunidad que continúen conduciendo de forma cuidadosa cuando transitan en las zonas escolares.
