Welcome to the Wolf Way Wednesday
A Big Move for the Elementary Library
This summer, many hands worked together to relocate the elementary library in the Irwin building. This change was needed to accommodate for the larger student population in Irwin and utilizing classroom space in a more efficient way.
Boxes upon boxes as well as shelves were loaded by janitors, staff and local church women to move over 8,000 books down two flights of stairs and back up another to find their new home on the stage.
“I really appreciated all of the help from the IKM-Manning janitorial staff who helped create a welcoming environment for our students. Janitors helped paint, hang wall backdrops, and refurbished old furniture to make it look like new, , stated IKM-Manning district librarian Deb Burton. “ An enormous amount of time was put into “setting the stage for the opening production.” There is still a lot to do to replace books that were old, lost or damaged but this is a great start. The hard work paid off as the students have enjoyed the extra space, new tables and love coming to library time!
Second grade student Jack S said, “ I really enjoy the new library space because it’s bigger!” Emery R added that she enjoys being able to spread out and have tables for library activities.
“It’s nice to see how after months of discussion, planning, and hard work that we now have a library that the students are excited to visit and read, read, read! We invite anyone to come and see our new space,” said Principal Shelly Christensen.
A huge thank you goes out to anyone who helped make this vision a reality!

Adjusting to Bound
The IKM-Manning Athletic Department along with the Western Iowa Conference (WIC) and other schools in the state have started using the Bound online system to organize athletic events along with purchasing online tickets.
While the transition to using Bound has had its growing pains, athletic director Cory McCarville feels that once people get the hang of it, it will be routine for those attending events. “This year is a transition year for us. While we strongly encourage people to buy online tickets, we are still taking cash at the gate for this year. Next year, we will be completely cashless. This is not the case at all competing schools so be prepared to purchase online.”
Ticket prices have also increased in the WIC Conference to $7/ticket for both students and adults. The reason for the increasing price is because of the rising expenses in athletics. If you attend many events, it may be beneficial for you to purchase a student, adult, senior or family pass, which can be purchased on Bound.
One great feature of Bound is that it is a one stop shop for athletics. By going to IKM-Manning’s Bound page, you are able to access schedules, rosters, and statistics of not only the Wolves, but also the teams they play. Bound is also synced to our school website for events. While the Bound calendar system has had some quirks, we are working through some issues to make sure it is up to date so the public has the most current information. If you are ever in question about the calendar, please reach out to Jenny Bunker at jbunker@ikm-manning.k12.ia.us
