Dear Stakeholders of Richmond Community Schools (RCS),
We have an assortment of activities happening across the district. Be sure to check out our calendar on the RCS website at www.weRrichmond.com to get event times and locations. Our excurricular coaches and sponsors have done a tremendous job with our students. At tonight's boys' basketball contest, the RHS Band and Devilettes will be celebrating their annual Senior Night.
Did you know that recently we celebrated National School Counselors' Week? Let's give some shout-outs to Mrs. Belanga (Test), Mr. Cordova (RHS), Mrs. Grossman (Hibberd), Mrs. Handley (Dennis), Mrs. Hoober (RHS), Mrs. Porter (RHS), Mrs. Sams (Dennis), and Mrs. Wysong (RHS). Thank you for helping our students form healthy goals, mindsets, and behaviors.
On Monday, February 20, the Richmond Police Department will be participating in routine training at Test Intermediate School. Emergency personnel and several emergency vehicles will be stationed around the campus. Please be aware that their presence is part of training only.
Congratulations to RCS orchestra and band students during their Solo and Ensemble performances. Our students earned 32 gold ratings and 15 silver ratings. The RHS Bowling Team rolled to excellence at State again this year. Congratulations!
Last week, the Richmond High School Career Center showcased their career and technical education options to 8th grade students from Dennis and Hibberd. Did you know that we offer our students twelve different career education programs with opportunities to earn dual and articulated credit through Ivy Tech Community College and Vincennes University? In two weeks, I will be kicking off the "Community Conversations" series that I informed you of last month. Test Intermediate School will be the first host site of our "Community Conversations" series Tuesday, February 28. Our series will then move to Dennis Middle School on Thursday, March 16, and Richmond High School on Tuesday, April 4. All events begin at 6 p.m. and we will be sharing the status of our RCS strategic plan and the progress that we are making to meet the goals found within the plan. Each "Community Conversations" series will conclude with a question and answer period. I truly look forward to having the opportunity to engage with all stakeholders within Richmond Community Schools.
