Dear Oak Ridge Families,
This week we celebrated American Education Week with parents sharing their favorite memories of school and students dressing up as a figure of their future career. Thank you parents for sharing your stories with us. Students wrote uplifting notes and cards of thanks to staff. Our Future Teachers of America students put together sweet treats for staff and staff enjoyed flavored coffees and doughnuts Thursday morning. Kindergarten through second grade students got to pet a baby calf today as they attended a presentation by high school students.
The annual Oak Ridge Christmas Parade will be December 3rd at 6:00PM and the Christmas Spirit Week will be December 12th-21st. The 2nd quarter celebration will be December 21st @ 11:00AM in the old gym. Parents, come and help us celebrate the end of 2nd quarter with fun, games, and prizes. School will dismiss at 12:30PM on December 21, 2022 for Christmas break and resume on January 4, 2023.
Science Club is hosting an ornament fundraiser. Click the flyer to download a form if you would like to order a historical Oak Ridge Christmas ornament or contact Jessica Fronabarger at jfronabarger@oakridge.k12.mo.us.
Oak Ridge Elementary will host the following charity hat days throughout the year. Students can donate $1 to wear a hat to school. Proceeds will go toward school supplies for students.

The Oak Ridge R6 Alumni Foundation is selling Poinsettias and is planning some Christmas fun at the community parade on December 3rd. Click the link below to access the poinsettia order form.
The Oak Ridge R6 Alumni Foundation will host Santa's Cottage on Saturday, December 3rd from 3-5pm with pictures with Santa & Mrs. Claus and concessions available from 3pm until the end of the parade ( hot cocoa, chili, walking tacos, grilled cheese sandwiches).
I have received several pictures of students enjoying the outdoors with nature photos the first weekend of deer season. I am thankful I had the opportunity to spend time with my family the first weekend of deer season as well. If you get to spend some time outdoors this week, please share your pictures with me at swood@oakridge.k12.mo.us.
Enjoy the weekend with your family and be safe hunting! We only have two days left until Thanksgiving break!
Sincerely,
Sonia Wood
