May 2023
Principal's Point
June is here and our year end events are in full swing with many activities planned over the final few weeks of school. I encourage all families to begin, or continue, a study routine as we move into June. Set up a designated time every night for some review to prepare for our end of the year assessments so that students can cover a small amount each day. As a reminder, students in grades 6 & 9 will continue to write PATs in June (Science = June 19th, LA = June 20th, Math = June 22nd, Social = June 26th).
Thank you to Mrs. Woofenden for running our Track & Field team, hosting extra practice sessions, and organizing registrations for the track meets. Our junior high students competed in the district meet in Vulcan on May 23rd and many qualified to compete in zones in Medicine Hat on May 30th! Great job everyone! Our elementary meet is happening in Vulcan on May 31st in Vulcan.
Please mark your calendars! Our year-end awards ceremony will take place on June 27th, starting at roughly 10:00am and we are hoping that many of you will be able to attend. We will have a final performance from our music classes, recognize our students for their achievements this year, and end with a farewell to our grade 9 class. We then invite all families to stay and play! We are planning to have a water fight and may also organize a game of kickball or something similar so we can all have a little fun together before we start our summer! After the water fight we will have a barbecue lunch. This should all end at approximately 1:00pm. Though June 27th is a full day, and buses will be running their regular 4:00pm schedule, families wanting to excuse their student from the afternoon can certainly do so.
As this will be our final newsletter for the year, I want to end with a heartfelt thank you to each of you. I am so appreciative of the incredible support the community gives our school in everything we set out to do. I feel very fortunate to be a part of this school and I am looking forward to continuing to work with you all in the years to come.
I hope you all have a fantastic June,
