USC High School Oct Newsletter

Fall has arrived with the aroma of fresh fallen leaves and the feel of cooler temperatures. USC students and staff have had a great start to the school year. Students have settled into their classes and are learning each day. Mid quarter is here and parent teacher conferences are Monday evening from 3:30 PM to 7:30 PM.

Homecoming week was a success with dress up days, activities, a pep fest, and concluded with the USC Rebel football team's victory over the JWP Bulldogs. USC students enjoyed the dress up days and participated in various activities throughout the week.

Thank you for all your hard work as parents and guardians who are supporting your students, our teachers, and all the staff at USC. Your interest and impact on your student's learning is vital to their success. Your encouragement is a driving force for your child.

On September 26th Travis Jacobs presented his story to USC students to explain the dangers of substance abuse. Travis is a writer and motivational speaker who shared about his journey with addiction and the struggles that followed along his way to recovery. Students enjoyed Travis' story and heard some amazing lyrics that Travis wrote.

The presentation was sponsored by the USC Drug Free Communities Grant. Grant Coordinator, Nathan Goette organized the event and is pictured above with Travis.

Congratulations to our 2023 Homecoming Royalty: Riley G, Chloe L, Macy S, Kendal H, Antoinette D, Hayden C, Braxton O, Brennan A, Blake B, Aidan R, and master and mistress of ceremonies McKenzie R and Jonathan M.

Homecoming Week 2023 kicked off on Sunday, October 1st at 6:30 PM with the 2023 Coronation Ceremony. King Hayden and Queen Chloe reigned over the festivities throughout the week.

USC students enjoyed a fun-filled week last week during homecoming. The event included activities and dress up days to celebrate USC Rebel Nation. During the week, students participated in the powder puff football game, shaving cream volleyball, trivia, an ice cream social, dodgeball, and a pep fest. Dress-up days included pajama day, tacky tourist day, country vs. country club, class colors, and USC spirit day. Congratulations to Mrs. Levine's students who won the door decorating contest. Congratulations to the dress up days winners and all who went above and beyond to participate in homecoming week.

USC Homecoming Royalty and their parents/guardians were introduced at half time during the Friday night Homecoming football game. The night concluded with the USC Rebels as victors at the end of the football game.

Thank you to everyone who participated to make the week an enjoyable time for their friends and peers. Also a big thank you to the student government group, Mr. Neel, and Ms. Meyer for their planning and preparation during the week. It was a great week at USC.

Mr. Dylla's Ag students hosted their annual Farm Safety event on Wednesday, September 27th.

USC elementary and middle school classes visited demonstrations regarding safety on the farm and around farm equipment, lawn mowers, and ATVs. Students learned about the importance of following safety rules while working around and playing within proximity of farm equipment.

Thank you to Mr. Dylla and the FFA students for providing this valuable learning opportunity to all our students.

USC is fortunate to have a fantastic team of teachers and support professionals that are here each school day to help our students grow and learn. Staff members truly care about the students and work hard every day to make USC a great place for all. They love what they do and are proud to be a positive impact on students' lives.

Thank you to this great team who daily goes above and beyond to ensure student success.
