The Premier 100

In November, Dr. Davis announced the launch of the Premier 100 Initiative, which seeks to strategically recruit and retain 100 minority male teachers in Richland 2 over the next three years. Nationally, African-American males comprise less than 2% of the teaching workforce, and our district is working to be a leader in diversifying our teaching workforce.


As part of that effort, the district will be hosting the inaugural Premier 100 Conference. This conference is open to both aspiring and current educators, and while the focus of the conference will be centered on supporting the work of male educators of color, the topics addressed will support the professional learning of all teachers.

Keynote Speaker

The conference will kick-off with remarks from Sharif El-Mekki, the CEO of the Center for Black Educator Development. A long-time high school principal, Mr. El-Mekki helped launch the Fellowship of Black Male Educators, a nationally recognized effort started to recruit 2500 new male educators of color to schools in Philadelphia.

Powerful Workshops

Conference attendees will have the opportunity to select from a diverse range of workshops focused on topics relevant to the work of teachers in Richland 2. Workshops will be led by university professors as well as exceptional Richland 2 educators.

Preparing for Success

The afternoon workshop session will largely focus on equipping aspiring educators for success in identifying their first job, but the time block will also include opportunities for current teachers such as receiving a professional headshot.

Conference Registration

Registration is open to all Richland 2 employees. The conference has a $10 registration fee, which covers the cost of breakfast, lunch, and conference materials. Currently certified teachers will be eligible to receive certificate renewal credit for participation in the morning portion of the conference.
