Virtue of Conscience
A person of Conscience:
· Feel right and wrong and pay attention
· Listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit inside
· Choose to do what Jesus would do
· Know that followers of Jesus will have to make difficult choices
· Keep promises even when tempted to give up
· Can see how his/her actions may help or hurt others
· Admit their sins and feel badly about poor choices
· Say sorry and try to make up for hurtful actions
From the perspective of the Catholic Graduate Expectations, a person of conscience...
· Makes decisions according to gospel values
· Accepts accountability for one's own actions
Fall has arrived...
Dear St. Giovanni Scalabrini Family,
October flew by and November has arrived with the “FALL” back of clocks this weekend - November 3! (The clocks go back 1 hr - Enjoy an extra hour of sleep)
During the month of October, we were able to give back to our community through our Terry Fox walk and our Student Ambassador Thanksgiving Food Drive. We danced our hearts away with our at our Dj'd Halloween Dance and fully decorated gym - thanks to the Hannan family for the giant blow-ups.
The St. Giovanni Staff also took a trip to Disney for Halloween fun. We also enjoyed this last week with a lot of Halloween and Empathetic spirit. Our Halloween classroom also decorated our Classroom doors to showcase our class creativity.
Our Cross Country Team did an exceptional job at our Mississauga East Family of Schools event with 3 spartans that moved forward to our Board event. Our Junior girls and boys volleyball teams represented us well at the Family tournament, and we are in full swing with Intermediate Girls and Boys TRYOUTS and now Practices are in full swing.
Our Lego Club, Knitting Club, and Chill Club have also begun during the month of October. We are excited for November festivities with the Brave Program during Anti-Bullying and Prevention Week. And soon our Christmas Market on November 23rd and Christmas Fun Night and Primary Concert- Coming Soon!!
Be Well, and God Bless
Mr. Kalaparambath

W. I. T. S and THINK
The WITS program is how at ST. GIOVANNI SCALABRINI we are beginning to solve problems in class and outside at recess. This program helps resolve and extinguish problems before they become more severe. Teachers and admin continue to model these problem solving strategies on a regular basis.
T. H.I.N.K
T - is it True?
H - is it Helpful?
I - is it Inspiring?
N - is it Necessary?
K - is it Kind?
The students at St Giovanni are taking a stance and THINKING before they speak. Please use these strategies at home, as to support the learning at school. Together we continue to support the well-being and model the virtues of our faith.
* Discriminatory language will not accepted in any form. Please have those conversations with your children.
We All Belong!
Remembrance Day: November 11th
Remembrance Day: November 11th
Our school will be participating as a school assembly at 10:20 am on November 11th for our Remembrance Day Virtual Liturgy. In addition to our liturgy, students and staff will participate in a moment of silence. As a Catholic community we remember those soldiers who have sacrificed their lives for us. We will also honor our present day soldiers who are peacemakers and who continue to protect the rights and freedoms of Canadians and people around the world. We will offer our prayers to those families who have been, and still are affected by war.
The Poppy
The poppy flower has become a symbol of sacrifice and remembrance. It is one of the most visible symbols of our caring about those who served our country and signifies an understanding of why their service was important. Wearing a poppy during this time of remembrance, is a personal way of saying, “I know and I care.”
School Connection:
November is a month of remembrance and a time when we reflect and share our kindness with others and focus on the virtue of conscience. We are reminded that as children of God we are ‘peacemakers’ in our community and that we have a responsibility to strive to improve not only our own lives but the lives of those around us. It is our hope that the children at St. Giovanni will follow Jesus’ path to create an inclusive and just community which truly reflects His love for all.
