Barber Bulletin
Did you know it is NATIONAL SCHOOL COUNSELING WEEK? Here's a look at our program BY THE NUMBERS? Great info-graphic completed by our very own, Julie Whitney!
As you probably heard:
We are monitoring absences throughout the district, and currently there are NO SCHOOLS with exceptionally high levels of absences due to flu.
Here a few tips to help remain healthy this flu season.
It's not too late to get the flu shot. Prevention is the best defense.
Wash your hands. Cough and sneeze into your elbow. Did I already say, get the flu shot?
Remember that students must be fever free for 24 hours, without the use of medication, before they can return to school.
Cooking Contest
Parents,
The Richland Two Future Chefs Competition is March 14th from 4pm - 7pm. The event is for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students. If your child is interested in submitting a recipe, have them pick up an application in our cafeteria. The theme this year is Healthy Asian Fusion. Recipes are due Friday, February 23rd.
Alternative Lunch
Parents,
Beginning Monday March 5th, students with a lunch balance over $10.00 will receive an alternative lunch.
The alternative lunches will consist of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, or a cheese sandwich with sides and a milk. This is standard district practice at the elementary level. If you need to apply for the free/reduced lunch program, please click on the link below. We also have paper copies of the application available upon request. Our cafeteria staff is able to print a balance sheet for you. If you have questions about your child’s lunch balance, please contact Joanna Willing, our cafeteria manager, by phone 803.699.2700 (ext. 81030) or email jwilling@richland2.org.

CHIHULY Art is coming to Pontiac!
Bess Reynolds is bringing Chihuly art to our students! Remember all those water bottles you helped collect during 1st semester? Well, now the art design begins!
Chihuly has created beautiful art over the course of the last 5 decades. He draws inspiration from the world around him, pushing the boundaries of contemporary art.
Take a moment to explore his art here: https://www.chihuly.com/work
Each piece is created by hand by blowing glass. Isn't it beautiful?
Our students are going to begin creating models of his art this semester!
Chihuly project for art needs volunteers week of Feb 12-16 from 8:30-9:15am to help with the heat gun, cutting plastic bottles, and attaching art to the chicken wire
