1095 Tax Record
Subscribers with district-sponsored health care insurance during the 2019 tax year will be receiving a 1095 tax document via US mail affirming the coverage. The 1095 may be distributed as a version B (from the carrier) or version C (from the district) or both. While the information on these forms may assist in preparing a return, it is not required per IRS guidelines. The document(s) are expected to be mailed out in early March and should be retained with all personal tax records for 2019.
Student Count Day Procedures Special Services ACTION: special services teachers
Please see the attached Pupil Count Memo (3A) dated January 24, 2020 and sample Worksheet B (3B) dated February 12, 2020 in preparation for Count Day. Special Services teachers need to follow these procedures for Count Day and use the sample Worksheet B as a guide. Please follow the procedure as outlined according to the timelines provided.
Please keep in mind that your worksheets will not be correct until all IEPs, amendments and transfer of students with disabilities have been finalized. This must happen before we can identify errors and make necessary corrections prior to Count Day. Please do not delay in completing this procedure.
Contact either the PSSP liaisons or your building IC with any questions regarding this process. Your cooperation is essential to a successful Count Day!
Finalize all IEPs, Amendments and Transfer of Students with Disabilities Prior to Count Day
All IEPs, amendments and transfer of students with disabilities are to be finalized prior to count day. Please contact your PSSP liaison or your building IC with any questions or if assistance is needed.

Online Professional Development 2
February 21, 2020 is designated as an online professional development day for Utica Community Schools. In the coming weeks, the district will release specific instructions for this date which will be similar to the January 2, 2020 process. This date is intended to be counted as a day of instruction in accordance with Michigan Department of Education guidelines to make up for the absence of an instructional day on January 3, 2020. All professional staff are requested to note this date as it falls at the end of mid-winter recess.
Second and Third Grade Literacy Support Program Winter Session 2
The Teaching and Learning Department is offering a grant funded before and after-school literacy support program that integrates reading and writing for second and/or third graders who scored at the 30% percentile or below in reading on the winter NWEA assessment from March 9, 2020 through April 24, 2020. Attached (11A) are guidelines for this intervention program.
Please identify one highly qualified teacher who is willing to teach the program at the building. Scheduling of the two days per week is up to the school. The guidelines require no more than 12 students per class. If interested please email me prior to February 24, 2020.
Training for teachers new to the program will take place on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 from 4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. at the Administrative Service Center.
Employee W2 and Paycheck Information
2019 W2 tax documentation will be mailed to individuals as well as posted to the employee portal in the coming days.
The employee portal affords district personnel the ability to view and print certain personal payroll information online. This includes paychecks, paystubs and W2. The portal is accessible through the district website. Select Utica Learning Interchange (ULI) and then the tab for My Info under quick links. A personal password is required. To have a password reset, contact the payroll department at 586-797-1210.
