MCES WEEKLY TOP FIVE FOR PARENTS
UPDATES FOR THE WEEK OF NOVEMBER 22
A MESSAGE FROM THE ADMINISTRATION TEAM
Good afternoon Montclair Parents/Guardians,
As we get ready for our upcoming breaks, The Administration Team at Montclair would like to inform our parents of a few important announcements and reminders.
AM Drop-Off: We realize that Montclair being a late start school can inconvenience our parents; however, parents cannot drop their child off unsupervised before 8:00 AM. As a reminder, our building does not open until 8:00 AM, and our staff members are not responsible for monitoring students outside the building. This is the responsibility of the parent. Additionally, parents that do not have students in students in Pre-K or EC are not allowed to park in the parking lot to get out to drop their students off.
Winter Dress/Mask: Parents, as the weather begins to change to colder temperatures, please make sure that you are sending your children to school with a jacket or coat. Please also encourage them to keep up with their coats or jackets. We want to ensure that our students are coming into our building as healthy as possible. Also, be mindful as we are heading into flu season—a lot of the symptoms of the flu mirror those of Covid 19. As always, if your student exhibit any symptoms, including Fever of 100.4 or higher, a continual cough, shortness of breath, muscle or body aches, headache, loss of smell or taste, sore throat, chills, runny nose, nausea, or vomiting and diarrhea, please keep them home. Please emphasize to your child that it is essential that the cover remains above their noses and mouths. Also, make sure that before your child comes to school, they have a mask on and the appropriate mask size.
Fall/Thanksgiving Break: On November 24th-26th, all students and staff members will observe Fall Break.
K-12 Brainfuse and Canvas Integration-To provide extra help and support to students and families, we want to give every opportunity possible for students to receive additional enrichment. We will now incorporate our county-provided tutoring vendor, Brainfuse, into the Canvas platform to provide students with an easier and more accessible way to use this service.
Individual Student Reports- On November 15th, The Department of Public Instruction released the capability for all school districts to share ISRs via Parent Portal. This is an opportunity for parents with students that have taken State-mandated tests to review their scores. If you do not have access to Montclair Elementary School will be able to provide you with a printout.
Thank you so much for your time as we look forward to a year and rebuilding, refocusing, and reassuring all stakeholders on being Montclair Strong. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns for administrators, please feel free to email us, use Classdojo or contact us in our Facebook group.
