ASL Storytelling - Never Mind: Duke the Deaf Dog (RECORDING)
Grades: Prek-3
ASL Storytelling program features the Tarrant County College’s Sign Interpreting team. They have taken on interpreting a story using ASL and voice. This year we were inspired by the book “Never Mind: Duke the Deaf Dog” by Kelly Brakenhoff. It is an excellent opportunity to learn about the different ways we communicate and how we can bridge communication gaps through kindness. Our new book this year will help all students, hearing and deaf/hard of hearing, learn signs and new communication methods.
Math and Art Series: Measurement and Scale (RECORDING)
Grades: 3-5
The curriculum is available in both English and Spanish.
We will offer fun, practical, and creative math lessons throughout the year. This series is intended to motivate students in math, see the practical math applications and add a little creativity to math-related lessons through creativity.
This project emphasizes basic multiplication through a scaling-up art project. Students will measure a small plastic toy (for example, a 2” dragon) and scale that up through multiplication to draw or sculpt a larger dragon with realistic proportions. Students will learn to use rulers, a geometry compass, and art materials.
Science & Art: Eco Art - The Seasons, Weather, & Life Cycles (RECORDING)
Grades: Prek-3
The curriculum is available in both English and Spanish.
ECO ART: This program features the story The Scarecrow by Beth Ferry. This story will help us to learn about seasons, weather, and life cycles (birds). Students will learn to appreciate the environment and the natural world around them. A fun, hands-on video to inspire our love of nature will be included in this program.
Science & Art Series: The Art of Waterways (RECORDING)
Grades: 6-12
The curriculum is available in both English and Spanish.
Students will focus on environmental water issues such as plastics in our rivers and oceans and the importance of waterways in our society. Mrs. Gloria has created a video of creative projects inspired by waterways focusing on how oil and water do not mix in the art form of marbleizing and river-inspired color-blocking art.
Social Studies & Art: Poppies: Celebrating Veterans Day 2023 (RECORDING)
Grades: K-5
The curriculum is available in both English and Spanish.
This program features art and writing along with history and appreciation. Students will color a poppy and write a short letter to a veteran while learning about the symbolism and tradition around the poppy over 100 years after it became the symbol of WWI. We recommend sending your poppy letters to veteran organizations such as Honor Flights, which fly veterans from all over the country to DC to see the national monuments of WWII and Vietnam. (Information will be provided)
Social Studies & Art: The Cattle Drives Era-Romance vs. Reality (RECORDED)
Grades: 3-7
The curriculum is available in both English and Spanish.
This history-based program examines the famed cattle drive era and how the cattle that started in Texas fanned north to the railheads and larger markets. As we learn about this era, we will also explore how movies and TV series about the era have romanticized the period in our minds today. We explore the romance portrayed in culture and the reality of the long hard drives north.Storybook PAL Series Pass (RECORDING)
