5th and 6th Grade First Term PE
The first term of PE for 5th and 6th graders was an educational and fun experience. This is the first year that we have your children for two terms. Having students for a longer period of time allows them to explore, understand, experience, and learn the subject matter in a more authentic way.
During this term students learned two popular sports for the season - soccer and field hockey. The only obstacle was the weather! When the weather was nice students engaged in the skills, strategies, and rules of the game. During our rainy days we had to modify the space to accommodate the skills and strategies. After the third week all the rules, regulations, and skills had been introduced and practiced so we were able to play full field games.
Below are videos of the kids engaging in indoor and outdoor activities for soccer and field hockey. Enjoy!
Also, during our first term we were able to have the 5th grade students engage in Project Adventure activities. This was a lot of fun and appropriate because it reinforced some of the goals that were achieved during their Nature’s Classroom trip. The students taught me about the 4 C’s program (communication, cooperation, commitment and care) they learned while there. Below are some video clips of students working together and accomplishing tasks and challenges that reflect the 4 C’s! They did a great job!
