Students and staff came back to many repairs and improvements across the district, some that were easily spotted and others that were tucked away but just as important such as roofing and electrical work. The Board of Education received an update on summer projects at last night's meeting.
The changes that can be seen include the removal of the portable at Cather, new flooring at Holling Heights including filling in the pit area in the entrance area, and replacing the exterior soffits at Morton. Rockwell received new skylights, and Kiewit's gym floor was refinished. Paving projects improved Beadle, Millard West and Millard South. The bleachers were replaced in the Millard South gym. Lunch tables and basketball backboards were replaced throughout the district.
Other projects not as easily noticed throughout the district include electrical work, roofing repairs, fire detection system replacements, geothermal heat-pump loop reclamation, and sanitary sewer line replacement.
Some of the most noticeable changes include new concession buildings at Millard North and South, and new softball press boxes at Millard North, South and West, plus synthetic turf at Millard West's soccer field. The biggest change of all lights up Buell Stadium with a brand new scoreboard.
