Woodland Schools Closed Due to Extreme Temperatures
Jan. 15, 2024
Dear Woodland Families,
Due to the winter weather impacting our area, all Woodland schools and offices will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024. This will be a traditional snow day/emergency closure; an eLearning Day will NOT be used. The major concern Tuesday is the forecasted windchill throughout the morning. According to the National Weather Service, the combination of cold temperatures and dangerous wind chills can lead to frostbite within minutes. As of now, forecasts are calling for slightly milder windchills on Wednesday and Thursday so we are planning on a full in-person return to school on Wednesday.
Once again, looking at the available information from our local partners, I am making the difficult decision to close school in order to keep our staff and students safe.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
Sincerely,
Dr. Robert Machak, Superintendent
