PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Happy snowy Friday FMS family and friends.
Last week I asked if anyone had activity ideas that would connect our kids with the wider community, and I received a response! It is not yet ready to roll out, but be on the lookout for a Books on the Bus book collection. We are still taking suggestions, so if you have any feel free to pass them along. Mr. McGinty did a lesson on Martin Luther King Jr., after which the kids used their art skills to make positive posters inspired by his “I Have A Dream” speech. While all of their ideas were kind and thoughtful, one gave me pause- that everyone be supported. Shout out to the parents for instilling a sense of care and community! The kids at FMS are amazing.
Within this newsletter is information about a Winterfest Field Day. We have also sent this information home today on paper. Please make note that this will be a spur of the moment decision. When we get a good amount of snow we will make the decision and an email will go out the night before. So when we are in a snowy spell, please check your email for information about it.
Finally, congratulations to all our chorus and band participants. The winter concert was beautiful. It is even more impressive since the choral pieces included 4/4, 3/4 and 5/8 time, as well as This Little Light of Mine had clapping on beats 2 and 4. This is all tricky, especially for the age group. Most importantly, way to go Ms. Michaud for all your hard work getting the kids ready and inspiring a love of music.
