The Buzz @ HMS
November 2022
Dear Hornet Families,
October was a full and FUN month here at HMS! This week we kick off quarter two of the 2022-23 school year. It seems to be flying by. November is a time of gratefulness as well as kindness month. As an HMS family, we will be promoting being kind and grateful. One way students can spread kindness and gratitude is by using our Harrison Middle School Kindness Wall (https://youuplift.com/harrison-middle-kindness-wall/). Please take a minute to fill up our staff's cup as well for anything you feel inclined on our 2022-23 appreciation form. This is always pinned to the top of our FB page as well for easy access! Here is the link: https://forms.gle/U4uRZcnA2q6hVsw39 Thank you in advance for helping spread kindness to our school family! During the month of November, the Positivity Project topics include lessons on bravery, gratitude and kindness. Next week's topic is bravery. Here is the family letter: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-ydJAlEvfBIPxj94j8EN5x-HeJ4AVFkV7N1yAW96Tso/edit?usp=sharing. Our students continue to lead each day with announcements on the Morning Buzz. You can check out our announcements on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOpyWHu90IxyGTVcH4qLgIg. While you will only see a select few actually as the news anchors, there's a crew working behind the scenes!
Report cards for first marking period were sent home this week. Please conference with your child about his/her efforts celebrating the parts that went well and create a plan with them to do even better next marking period. A SMART plan is specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timely. Continual learning is something we all strive for here at HMS! We are looking forward to a great November and second marking period! Reminder that we do NOT have school on Tuesday, November 15th for Deer Day and Thanksgiving Break is 1/2 Day November 23 and no school on November 24th & 25th. HMS picture retakes are November 16th.
Gratefully,
Jennifer Thrush, Principal
