Indigenous Education
Tansi! Hello!
My name is Jackie Benning. I am an educator with PWPSD and a member of the division's Indigenous Education Services Team. Our team exists to "support the positive experiences and success of our Indigenous students, while advancing Truth and Reconciliation in education for all students and staff". I am the team lead for your school. I have been enjoying coming in to present to classes and to meet with admin and teachers. I have been teaching with PWPSD since 2012 mainly at Clairmont Community School as a classroom teacher. I have also worked in the division as a substitute teacher, Indigenous teacher lead, and school counsellor. I am a citizen of the Métis Nation of Alberta and an active member with the Grande Prairie Friendship Centre. Besides being involved in education and the community, I spend a lot of time reading, running, and staying active outdoors. Luckily, my two young daughters and my husband enjoy these activities as well!
If you would like to connect to chat about Indigenous Education at your school, please feel free to call me or send an email. I am open to hearing suggestions, answering questions, and offering support.
In friendship,
Jackie Benning
