A Note from Our Librarian, Mrs. Mancuso

Did you know that within MackinVIA, TCE learners have access to 38 different databases? Learners can access MackinVIA with their district user name and password. See below to learn more about one of them.


BookFlix pairs fiction and nonfiction texts on the same topic. Learners can watch/listen to a fiction story and then read the nonfiction book. There is also a read-along feature so learners can choose to have the story read to them. In addition, there are puzzles where learners can test their comprehension through word matches, fact, or fiction quizzes and which came first. This database is geared for grades K-2, but everyone will enjoy watching the stories and reading the books.

October Parent Conference Reminder

If you have not already had a chance to meet with your child(ren)'s educator this year to discuss their progress and any questions you may have, please make sure to sign-up for a parent conference. Due to the number of learners we have on each grade level, many of our educators will extend the conference sign-up days/times to also include the week leading up to October 8th. Look for more specific details in our educators' newsletters.

We are still in need of room parents for approximately half of our educators, so if you are willing to help we would be so grateful!
