Dear Field Parents and Guardians,

We hope you've had a nice week. As a reminder, we do not have school tomorrow, Friday, April 7th.

Thank you to the many families who have already completed their school registration for next year! Doing this now allows us to plan for next year in the best way possible, in terms of developing class lists and teacher assignments. If you know of a friend of neighbor with an incoming kindergartener or first grader, please encourage them to complete their registration soon.

Each year, we provide parents an opportunity to share information about their child(ren), how they learn best, and preferences about peers in their classroom. If you are interested in sharing information, please use this form. You are able to complete this form until April 7th. Thank you for your partnership!

A few reminders:

• We know some students have Smart Watches or cell phones - please know students are not permitted to use these items during the day. Devices should be powered off or set to a "school time". If your child needs to contact you, they can use the phone in our office.

• Please remember to use the sidewalks (rather than the staff parking lot) when walking to and from Field. We do have staff who are arriving or leaving during these times.
  

• Please continue to remember that dogs are not allowed at arrival and dismissal.

• If your child (or you) ride a bike or scooter to and from school, please walk the vehicle on the blacktop.

Here are highlights from Field Elementary School's 2nd Annual Rock Paper Scissors Tournament.

Lilian C. won the student side of the bracket, while Mrs. Ireland took home the title for the teachers. And in a thrilling third set...Mrs. Ireland secured the championship!

A fitting celebration that is part of Field's CARES program. Students have been focusing on problem-solving this month.

Each week, our District will focus on a different healthy living theme and challenge for students. This week's focus is physical activity. Students are challenged to use their feet (walking, playing sports, jogging, etc.) every day before, during, and after school!

*** Any student who raises $150 before our April 3, 2023 kick off will earn your very own Frankie (see picture to the left) to add to your Heart Heroes collection***

We are so excited to participate in this program and help kids like Eller, Ms. Azark’s nephew:

Join your Field Green Team and other Green Teams from District 64 on Saturday, April 15th from 1-3 pm for an Earth Day Clean-Up Event. We will meet at Axe Head Lake off of Touhy Avenue. Long pants, hard-sole shoes, and gardening gloves are recommended. Also, bring a 5 gallon bucket (if you have one). Plastic bags & gloves will be provided.

Field Follies: Looking Ahead

Planning is already underway for the 36th annual Field Follies! Elizabeth MacDougall, Jenny Mierisch and Courtney Nashan have volunteered to produce next year’s show and it’s not too late to get involved! "VIP & Me "Dance: Tickets on Sale Now

Spring Carnival: Volunteer Forms & Tickets Coming Soon

The Spring Carnival is on Saturday, May 6th, 12:00–3:00 PM. In order for the carnival to be a success, we will need volunteers to run the carnival games! Parents, middle schoolers, or high schoolers are welcome (service hours provided) – signup link will be available soon!

This year, we will be pre-selling tickets. The link to ticket sales will be available soon. Concessions will be cash only on the day of the event.

Yearbooks are on sale! Order by April 15. Go to FieldPTO.org, then My Account - Forms. Special thank you to our PTO who design and coordinate our school yearbook each year!

Did you know? A plastic bag doesn’t degrade, it only breaks down into smaller pieces and has negative impacts on ecosystems and food chains if not contained. Only about 2% of bags are actually recycled. Support the Maine South Environmental Club by bringing in your plastic grocery, ziplock/sandwich, newspaper, bread and cereal bags. Their goal is to collect 500 pound of plastic bags to build a bench near their front pond. Send your child with clean plastic bags and we'll ensure your plastic bag goes to a good cause! ~ Your Field Green Team

This year, when any of our District 64 schools has a positive COVID-19 case, we'll communicate that information via our school-specific dashboard on our website. A link to our Field COVID dashboard can be found here. This dashboard will replace any previously emailed letters with notifications. On the dashboard, you will be able to see the number of active cases of students or staff in isolation, and the homerooms associated with those students.

We do continue to update this regularly. Our numbers of reported cases have been very low or at zero for the recent weeks.
