Principal's Message
Greetings Eagle family,
Can you believe it is May? We have a few weeks left in this school year. For some students this month marks the end of the first year of middle school. However, the eighth graders are running to high school as you read this newsletter. This is your final opportunity to review grades and attendance in preparation for next year. Contact teachers now if you need assistance for your student. All students are required to maintain an average of 70 in every class to remain in the magnet program.
Take time to review this newsletter and every correspondence posted from the school. We have several activities scheduled before the year ends. Mark your calendar to ensure you do not miss an activity. Check the dates on the website and social media outlets frequently during summer break for updates. If you have questions, contact the school for assistance.
Thanks for your continued support.
Mrs. Taylor-Jackson, Principal

Leading the way for the Eagles was 7th grader Paden Roberts, who came in #1 for all 7th grade boys and #2 in all middle school boys with a score of 288 with 19 perfect 10s!!!! Math Olympiad
The Math Olympiad, held at the Alabama School of Math and Science on April 1, 2023, included a one-hour written examination with problems requiring students to use imagination and creativity along with their mathematical skills. Congratulations to these Clark-Shaw students who took the initiative to think boldly outside the box and show just how intuitive math can be when applied with logic and creativity!

A team with their 1st place trophy!
Members of the Scholars' Bowl team are Logan Rigsby, Max Norris, Chloe Seals, Eli Weatherford, Grant Langham, Garrett Langham, Will Jordan, James Colleli, Graham Langham, and Andres Gonzalez Espana. They are coached by Mrs. Tracy Steiner and Mrs. Dena Van den Bosch.
Robotics Competition
Eighth grade Robotics student Abigail Faggard operates an underwater ROV in preparation for this weekend's competition.
Spring Fling Re-Cap
Our annual Spring Fling was Thursday, April 13th. Despite torrential downpours at the beginning of the day, our fabulous PTA still managed to pull off a fun day for everyone! Our students enjoyed all the games, inflatables, dunking booth, music, and food. It was a great way to end our ACAP testing window. Many thanks to all the PTA members and volunteers for making this day successful!
Former Eagles and current members of the National Honor Society at Davidson High School came back to visit Clark-Shaw and help with our 2023 Spring Fling!
Thank you PTA!
Shown above are PTA Superstars Kristina Stuart, Shree Meade, Ann Jordan, Michelle Borchert, and Rebekah Olson!

Nurse's Corner
As you all know the end of the school year is upon us. I can’t believe how quickly it went by. I want to remind everyone that if you have a medication for your student in first aid that it will need to be picked up by 3:00 pm on the last day of school (May 25, 2023). We are not able to hold any medications for the summer or next school year. Also please remember that all medical forms for next school year will need to be filled out again. This includes diet prescription forms, PPA forms (medication), chronic ailment letters, etc. I will be sending these forms home with the students that I am aware of with medication at school. This will allow you time to be able to get them filled out this summer. These forms may also be found on the school website.
I will be performing scoliosis screenings on students in the month of May. This screening is voluntary and will only be performed on the students that return the permission form. This form is being sent home on Friday, April 28 and will need to be returned to me no later than Friday, May 5. If you do not want the screening performed on your child, then you do not need to return it. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.
I hope everyone has a safe and fantastic summer and I will see everyone when we return in August!
