Parent Ed Tech
Parents are welcomed to attend a Parent Ed Tech Camp. This is a time where parents can come in and ask educationally related technology questions. Mr. Richard Ireland will be available in Room 31 from 2:30-3:30 pm on Tuesday, February 28th . You can come and ask questions from how to access parent portal, how to access your child's google docs. This is a great opportunity that arose from parent requests to have more hands on learning about the technology our students are using.

Bobcats ROAR
Kindergarten has been very busy. We celebrated the 100th day of school by dressing up to look like we were 100 years old. Zero the Hero would have been proud of how many ways we counted to 100, too. We shared Valentines with our friends, had a dragon and lantern parade for Chinese New Year, and were patriotic for President's Day.
First Grade
First grade celebrated the 100th day of school. We were busy celebrating this day and number by creating 100 day projects, making 100 day tally mark headband/glasses and and also by counting up to 100 by 1's, 2's ,5's and 10's.
Second Grade
In Second grade we have been working on how technology can help us solve problems. We learned about inventors and created our very own invention, keeping in mind what the problem was and how our invention could help solve that problem. We learned about simple machines as well and designed our very own catapult which we launched with candy projectiles. We continue to learn and grow in our understanding and application of technology as well.
Third Grade
We third graders show respect for our country by saying the Pledge of Allegiance and singing a patriotic song every morning. It's a fun way to start the day!
In March we will begin multiplication timed testing. March is biography month! We will be researching the life of a famous person in history and dressing up as that person when we give our presentations!
Fourth Grade
Fourth Grade has been completing an author study of Helen Lester. She is the author of Tacky the Penguin. The students have been using her books as inspiration to author and illustrate their own picture book.
Fifth Grade
5th graders have been working hard at preparing for the Walk Through American Revolution. You will see students as George Washington, Paul Revere, Betsy Ross just to name a few, and re-enactments of some famous battle scenes on March 3, 2017 during the 5th grade Walk Through presentations. Mrs. Jaime’s class will be from 8:30-11:00 and Mrs. Park’s class at 11:30-2:00.
Sixth Grade
Chapman Hills 6th Graders were invited to El Modena High School for a Career Fair on February 14th as part of developing bridges for our AVID program. Students were exposed to a variety of career paths that El Modena has to offer. Although many of the booths were lead by representative of the career, some were even led by El Modena students to educate other students on particular career choices. The 6th Grade Bobcats had the opportunity to get their hands on robotics, see a 3D printer in action, the culinary arts, and even a chance to do push ups while going head to head with a United States Marine recruiter! Aside from all the free goodies they grabbed, the 6th Graders really enjoyed their time at the Career Fair and received some great information on a possible future career path.
6th Grade Immunization Information
Pertussis (Whooping Cough)
Pertussis, better known as whooping cough, has reached epidemic levels in California. Pertussis is a bacterial infection of the respiratory tract that is spread through the nose and throat secretions of someone with Pertussis when they cough or sneeze.
Assembly Bill 354 was signed on September 29, 2010. This bill took affect July, 1, 2011, and requires that all students entering grades 7 provide proof of immunization for Pertussis before starting the 2016-17 school year.
This requirement can be met by receiving one dose of Tdap vaccine, the tetanus and Pertussis booster, on or after the student’s 7th birthday. If your child has not received the Tdap vaccination, please call your doctor’s office or the Orange County Health Care Agency and make an appointment to have your child vaccinated.
Adults are also advised to get the Pertussis booster in order to protect themselves and their family. This is particularly important if they are pregnant or in contact with children under the age of 12 months. Infants less than a year old have the highest rate of reported disease. Pertussis can be a serious illness in infants, children, and adults who have a weakened immune system or other diseases such as chronic lung disease.
