Community of Practice session - February 28, 2023
Theme: AI and Chat GPT
On February 28 we welcomed over 80 participants to our first for 2023 Community of Practice session. The theme of AI and ChatGPT is topical and generated much interest and conversation. All resources (and more!) are easily accessed in this digital artefact including individual guest speaker edited recordings.
INTRODUCTION
- We are collectively aware of the rapid development of Artificial intelligence (AI) in recent years.
- But now we are taking more notice as tools like ChatGPT emerge that allow us to generate text content based on user inputs and engage in natural language conversations with humans.
- With careful planning and implementation, AI has the potential to transform the way we teach and learn. We need to consider how we embrace this opportunity and create engaging learning experiences and authentic assessments.

Guest Speakers
Dr Rian Roux: ChatGPT: How then shall we teach?
It has been a few months since the name ChatGPT entered common parlance. We have had the chance to create limericks and lessons plans, be amazed, enthused and confused. Now comes the time for us to make decisions and lead. We need to carve a path forward, and we need to be smart about it. This Community of Practice will lay out the landscape at UniSQ and facilitate a robust conversation about the future of our courses and programs, and what needs to happen next.
