Pleasant Valley PBIS Updates
2022-23 School Year 4th Quarter Update
Our mission is to empower and inspire a community of lifelong learners and leaders!
Here at Pleasant Valley Elementary we continue to be committed to PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports). At the beginning of the school year, we spend time going over all of the expectations with students (see Matrix below). We also focused on specific areas during our first two quarterly spirit assemblies. As we begin the final quarter of the school year, these expectations will be reviewed again by the teachers utilizing our school wide PBIS lesson plans.
This month, the Cleveland Cavaliers Youth Academy hosted our third quarter spirit assembly. Please click here to view photos from the event. Students received Cavs shooting sleeves, took pictures with their backdrop, and participated in various drills/contests throughout the event. Two big quarterly winners won tickets to an upcoming game. It was a great way to close out our third quarter!
Students continue to be expected to follow the common area expectations and are positively reinforced when doing so through the use of our "Starbucks". Click HERE to view our opening PBIS Expectations presentation for the 2022-23 school year!
Recess and the bus continue to be two areas that we work on with our students. Safety in both areas is our greatest priority. If you have time and are able to review the expectations with your child/children as well, we would appreciate the additional support. We always encourage students that are having peer disagreements to utilize their communication skills with one another. If that does not work, speaking to noon monitors or classroom teachers would be the next step.

Celebrating Success at Pleasant Valley
Weekly...
- Ten Starbucks (2 per grade level) are drawn and students receive a token to choose a free book from our vending machine.
- Five students from each class are recognized as the teachers "Friday Five" and are celebrated in each individual classroom differently.
- We draw two Starbucks from the bucket that is kept all month long. Those students each get to invite a friend to enjoy a McDonald's lunch with the principals.
- Each teacher nominates a rockSTAR of the Month. We congratulate all students who were chosen for the first half of the school year! Each of them received yard signs, certificates, and ice cream with the principals!
Quarterly...
- We celebrate with a spirit assembly. Teachers volunteer to participate in Minute to Win it games with their students, PBIS expectations are reviewed, and we come together as a building with our "S-T-A-R-S" chant!
- At the assembly, we choose two Starbucks that have been saved in our quarterly bin and they earn large prizes. So far, we have awarded 2-$100 dinner and a movie gift cards, and 2-$100 Chuck E. Cheese gift cards!
