Mineral Point School District is anxiously anticipating celebrating its 2021 Homecoming September 27th through October 2nd. This year’s theme is “We’re Out of This World!”

Thursday, September 30

-- Community Spirit Rally and crowning of the King & Queen to follow the parade at the football field

Friday, October 1

-- Varsity Football vs. Parkview/Albany 7 pm

Saturday, October 2

-- Homecoming Dance Grand March 8:30 pm

It's Homecoming Parade entry time! The parade will be held Thursday, September 30 at 6:15 pm down High Street. Anyone wishing to enter a float in the parade should fill out this form: https://forms.gle/wtdyH2PNo5Hjn3nv7

If you have any questions, please contact Matt Nevers at matt.nevers@mp.k12.wi.us or 987-0739 ext. 472. Entries should be in no later than Wednesday, September 29 to allow enough time to distribute the parade line-up to all involved. Floats may be pulled by car or truck, and the driver must have a valid WI driver’s license. Written permission from the owner must be registered with Mr. Nevers. No three or four wheelers will be allowed in the parade and we ask that you refrain from throwing candy as it creates a hazardous situation for youngsters. Class floats can have 6-8 students riding and drivers of floats must have a valid regular driver’s license (19 years old and older) and proof of insurance turned into the high school office a week before the parade.

"Three days of grand opening ribbon cutting celebrations were pretty special. It was interesting to hear about their favorite areas. The reading nook under the stairs and the chandelier were top contenders. Many students thought that all of the books were brand new. Additional favorites included the comfy furniture and whiteboard table. The most exciting thing that happened over and over as classes came to the library was the excitement that kids had for checking out books and reading. It has truly been a joyous year so far!" ~ Micki Uppena, Elementary School Librarian

In 2018, our community generously supported and approved an $11.92 million referendum to renovate and expand the elementary school. Construction is nearly complete and we are thrilled to open our beautiful building to all. On Wednesday, October 6, the elementary school will be open from 5:00-7:00 pm for self-guided tours. Some staff members will be available to provide assistance and answer questions. We can't wait to show off your incredible investment in the future of the Mineral Point Unified School District. We love that our high school leadership class visits the elementary to greet students and staff as they come into school, ready to pump everyone up to have a great Friday!

3rd graders listened to the story "Most Marshmallows." This story is about marshmallows and the big dreams they have, just like all the hopes and dreams our 3rd graders have. These marshmallows can do anything they set their minds to and so can our 3rd graders. After discussing the story, students were inspired to put the marshmallows into action in a marshmallow catapult contest. Everyone had the opportunity to catapult their marshmallow as far as they could. Tatum Tippett was the overall 3rd grade winner! So much fun and team building was had by all!

1st graders took a "trip" to New York and learned about 9/11 last week, including reading the book "Fireboat."

Exciting news, #PointerNation! Monday's 9/20 Dodge-Point Boys Soccer game vs. Reedsburg will take place right here at Ron Murphy Field! JV action will start at 5 pm with Varsity to follow, approximately at 6 pm.

With four of the seven DP Seniors being Pointers, this is very exciting! Callie Pierce, Ella Fox, and Jazmine Cool will perform the National Anthem and FBLA will have concessions.

The National Wrestling Hall of Fame, USA Wrestling and FloWrestling announced its preseason rankings for high school girl wrestlers for the 2021-22 season. Kudos to Kylie Rule who is ranked 6th in the NATION at 127 lbs!
