South Side Family Newsletter
December 2019
Happy December!
It's that wonderful time of year and we are closing in on winter break. Your kids have all grown up and learned so much since August. Between now and our winter break students will be testing for what we call middle of year benchmarks. All students will take NWEA tests for language, math, and reading. They will also be assessed for their current reading level and for their progress in our specific math curriculum using iReady.
Obviously we are very busy until winter break! Please note that school will be closed for winter break from December 23 through January 3. We will resume school on Monday, January 6. I hope that you all have an opportunity to spend some quality time with your children and families. Please reach out if you have any questions, concerns, or positive feedback to provide.

Mobile Dentist Update
Mobile Dentist make-up day is scheduled for January 10th. Students who turned in permission slips who were not seen in November will be seen on this date. If you would like to add your student to the list, contact Nurse Ashley for a permission slip.
eLearning Reminder
Although we hope to avoid school cancellations the reality is upon us that Mother Nature may have other plans. If your child has experienced any difficulty completing our previously planned ELearning days so far this year, or if you are experiencing any technical difficulties at home with your school-issued device please contact your child's teacher before we start to experience multiple weather related ELearning days. Students do have three school days to complete each ELearning day's assignments, but the process is much better for kids when they can complete their assignments at home on the day of ELearning.
