Ms. Flaugher
Greetings Hilltoppers!
This year marks my 32nd as an educator and I can honestly say, this is the most unique start to a school year I have ever been a part of! Even with some of the challenges we faced, it was one of the best school openings I can remember. Thank you to our students and families for your support and feedback through the first week. This has been valuable as we worked to iron out glitches. Communication will be key during virtual learning.
By now you are familiar with our daily schedule. I encourage students to take advantage of the “check-in” sessions Tuesday-Friday. While attendance is not mandatory, as you move deeper into the content I know you will find this more individualized time with your teacher beneficial. Teachers will remain on Zoom for the entire time, so hop on when you can. If students need additional assistance please feel free to sign up for an appointment later in the afternoon. Some of the positive feedback from our students about virtual learning is, “I can make my own schedule.” “Online learning takes away a lot of the nervousness that I had for going to high school in person.” These are definitely some of the advantages but it is going to require students to access the resources necessary to be successful. Remember, work is being assessed so be sure to take advantage of the time with your teachers.
I want to give a huge shout out to all of our educators. They have worked tirelessly over the last few weeks preparing for this new format. While many were nervous about how this would look once the year started they were ALL excited to finally meet their students. They have been relentless in their efforts to plan meaningful content each week.
Again, thank you to everyone for the support as we started this year. Please continue to reach out should you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Rose Flaugher, Principal

Nurse News
Medical Conditions
If your student has a medical condition such as an anaphylactic allergy, asthma, diabetes, seizures, migraines, or any other condition requiring regular care from the school nurse or the carrying of an inhaler or epi pen, then an appropriate action plan is required to be on file in the school clinic. These forms must be dated for the current school year. All forms can be found at https://www.lcsedu.net/parents/forms. I would like to go ahead and have the forms BEFORE the students return.
If your student will take any medication during the school day, a Physician/Parent Authorization to Administer Medication at School form must be filled out appropriately and signed by both the physician and parent/guardian. This includes over the counter medication. No student should be carrying any medication other than an epi pen or inhaler as authorized by the physician and school personnel per LCS policy. This form can also be found at https://www.lcsedu.net/parents/forms All medication is required to be brought to the school by the parent or guardian. As we get closer to the students actually returning to the building, I will post an update regarding specific times and dates to adhere to the social distancing guidelines.
We want to be able to help your student to the best of our ability during any medical emergency that may occur while on school grounds and being aware of any condition(s) will help us to do so
If your student has had a recent physical, please send an updated immunization record so that we can update our records.
Thank you for your help and understanding. I can be reached at 434-515-5370,ext 34004 or campbellkd@lcsedu.net with any questions. The fax for the school nurse is 434-522-3741.
