Hello Thompson Families,

It was wonderful welcoming students back into the building after Spring Break. With our eLearning day behind us, we are shifting our focus to what's ahead for the remainder of the year.

With the upcoming school year in mind, student registration opened on March 17th. We ask that families take some time now to register their student(s) for the 2023-2024 school year. In particular, we ask families to register their incoming kindergarten students as soon as possible as we are evaluating staffing needs. Many parents choose to drop off and pick up their students each day. In an effort to gain access to the school parking lots or surrounding neighborhood, a number of drivers attempt to pass the line of cars waiting on Thompson Lane. Passing the cars waiting in line on Thompson Lane presents a significant safety risk. To date, we have observed/received reports of a number of near misses when a driver in the car line - who has the right of way - attempts to turn into the circle drive when another car is passing on the left. Please know we are working with local law enforcement to evaluate our traffic patterns and identify possible areas for improvement. Updated information will be communicated to families in the very near future.

Mark your calendars! The Thompson School Open House will take place on Wednesday, April 19th according to the following schedule:

• Kindergarten-5th Grade - 5:30pm-6:30pm
• ECE AM Session - 5:30pm-6:00pm
• ECE PM Session - 6:00pm-6:30pm

Congratulations to the 152 students who complete the Kingfish & 99 Pledges reading program! On April 10th, students who participated will bring home two forms. One of the forms will be a certificate that is good for 2 free tickets to get into Thompson Night at the Kingfish game on Tuesday, June 20th. If you are unable to attend this game, the certificate is good for a game at a later date. Please hold on to this certificate as it is the admission ticket (for two) for the game. Another form will be attached that can be used to purchase additional discounted tickets for family and friends who would also like to go to the June 20th game. Tickets can be purchased directly through the Kingfish. We hope to see you all at the game on June 20th!

• Our next PTO Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 18th at 6:00pm in the Palombi Library.

Students in Kindergarten and Grades 2 and 6 are required by the State of Illinois to have a Dental Examination. Exams must be performed by a licensed dentist, and he/she must sign and date the PROOF OF SCHOOL DENTAL EXAMINATION FORM. Dental Exam Forms must be dated within 18 months of the May 15th due date.
