Here's What We've Been Up To!

Third quarter has wrapped up and here is what we have been up to at Rich Hill High School and Junior High. It has been a great quarter full of learning and fun experiences and we want to share a few highlights of the quarter.

Moments to Celebrate in the Classroom🙌

Children's Literature Festival

Ms. Entrikin took 18 students to the Children's Literature Festival in Warrensburg, MO. We heard authors speak about the importance of reading, writing, and never giving up. We heard Gary Schmidt, Dusti Bowling, Beth Vrabel, and Roland Smith speak on the process of becoming a published author. The students enjoyed the day and were excited to get to listen to the authors speak. The authors all had fun stories about some of the books they've written or the jobs they did before they were authors. It was a really fun day!

NRTC Presentations

Sophomores and 8th graders were presented with the different opportunities that Nevada Regional Technical Center has to offer. Interested sophomores were able to take a tour of the program in Nevada soon after.

2023 TEAMS Math Competition

Archie Teams Math Competition took place on March 2nd. The Rich Hill Junior High took a group of 22 students from 6th, 7th, and 8th grade to compete in 8 challenging categories.


Teams with first place finishes were:

6th graders - Thomas Felid & Polly Jones - 1st place in Picture Equations

8th grade team - Carmen Conce-Bearce & Avery Wheatley - 1st place in Picture Equations

Archie Individual Math Competition

Archie Individual Math Competition happened March 16. The Rich Hill Junior High took a group of 22 students from 6th, 7th, and 8th grade to compete in 8 challenging categories.


Individuals with first place finishes were:


8th grader Abi Reed 1st place for Algebra and General Knowledge

6th grader Kaiden Fry 1st place for Numbers and Operations

8th grader Avery Wheatley 1st place for Numbers and Operations

8th grader Levi Jones 1st place for Measurement

22nd ANNUAL REGIONAL MODEL BRIDGE CONTEST

On Thursday, March 16, 2023 the Southwest Chapter of the Missouri Society of Professional

Engineers held the 22nd Annual Regional Model Bridge Contest at Missouri Southern State

University in the Billingsley Student Center from 6 to 8 pm.


Bridges are designed and built by high school students using 3/32” x 3/32” lengths of Basswood. The bridge specifications require a maximum weight of 25 grams with maximum dimensions of length 350 millimeter by width 75 millimeter by height 100 millimeter.


Will Klinksick, Kylee Law, and Ayla Koa's bridge competed in the Challenge Division and earned a third place finish!

Moving on to STATE!

On the Science Olympiad team, Sadie Gillis and Abi Reed qualified for state with their 1st place finish in Anatomy & Physiology for Science Olympiad.

FBLA members Sydney Rice and Katlynn Wyatt presented to the Board of Education on their experiences with their trip to Denver. They represented themselves, FBLA, and RHHS very well!!!

Rich Hill Junior High students enjoyed the semi-formal dance. Although students were counting the stars, there was dancing later.

West Central All-District Orchestra

Congratulations to Noah Smarr and Hayden Schapeler for being selected and performing in the West Central All-District Orchestra! They worked very hard today and put on a great performance!

Pep Band at the Show Me Showdown

The Rich Hill HS Pep Band was selected to perform at the Show Me Showdown. They provided entertainment between games and performed the national anthem for three different ball games. Way to make us proud in Springfield!

WEMO All-Conference Choir


The WEMO All-Conference Choir event and performance was today at Adrian! They spent their entire Saturday working with the great clinician Stephen Rew from Ray-Pec and learned A TON! Congratulations to the 2023 All-Conference Choir members!

District Solo and Ensemble Contest

Rich Hill High School Band and Choir members did an excellent job at District Solo and Ensemble Contest! We had so many participants this year and they all played wonderfully!


Individuals with gold ratings were:

Noelle Abend: Flute Solo

Hayden Schapeler: Trumpet Solo

Noah Smarr: Snare Solo


Noah, Hayden and Noelle are moving on to State contest in April!!! Congrats!

Ally Halvorson Creates a Masterpiece!

Shel has worked on this for months! Done in colored pencil! It’s amazing and she should be commended for the hours and hours of work in the classroom and at home! It’s incredible! Watch the video below to see a time-lapse of the project.
