Driver's Ed Info--SCROLL DOWN

Dear Charger Family,

Thank you to all of our 10th grade families for supporting our students on the PreACT or CCRAA-10 test on Wednesday. Our students did a great job and we look forward to their getting results back which will be helpful in preparation for the ACT Test that they will take in late winter of their junior year. Students will be able to know what individual areas to work on and we will look at schoolwide trends so that we know where to put extra emphasis to help this group achieve their best on the ACT. I would also like to thank all of our students for their high levels of participation and activity in last week’s grade level meetings!

We recently received our Panorama survey data back which informs us on how our students are doing in their Social-Emotional development. Our team will be reviewing this and adjusting our schoolwide plan to best serve our students’ needs. Below are some important items that I wanted to bring to your attention this week.

• Any 10th grader that missed Wednesday’s administration of the PreACT should attend the make up this Wednesday, November 9th. Students should arrive between 6:45-7:00 and be picked up between 10:30-10:45. (1900 Newcastle St)

• Seniors: Many of you have earned scholarships. Congratulations! Please complete the form below!

• Join us for Operation Sandwich Wednesday, December 7th from 10-1 where we will be working to feed our homeless neighbors. Roof Above serves 800 sandwiches a day and we will be teaming to provide CMVHS Charger service!

• All students currently in Foundations of Math 1 need to come to the school to pick up Math 1 materials. (details below)

• Our Mid-Year Graduation Date has been set for Thu, Feb 2nd at Bojangles Coliseum. Mid-year grads, you MUST order your cap and gown by 11/15 to guarantee on time delivery.

• Underclassmen pictures and senior make ups will take place on 11/30 and 12/1.

Yes, it is end of course assessment for the class and students have to come in to the building to sit for this proctored exam. Enrolled students will receive a direct email from Ms. Jackson. CMVHS students have access to several tutoring resources for additional/off hours help with their course work:

• Tutor.com: provided by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Library. Student get 10 free online tutoring sessions each week with a live tutor.
• NCVPS Peer Tutoring Center & Virtual Buddies: For NCVPS classes only. Students can sign up for help with specific courses or connect with a virtual buddy for help with time management, motivation, etc.
• Khan Academy: Free for all students. Short lessons in the form of videos and supplementary practice exercises.
• School House World: From the founders of Khan Academy. Global community for free, small-group or 1:1 tutoring sessions on Zoom in SAT® Prep and math–from Pre-algebra to Calculus.

Students who are interested in taking the Drivers Education course during the week should contact Jordan Driving School for more information: http://www.jordandrivingschoolcharlotte.com/.

Once the course has been completed, the drivers eligibility form for DMV can be received from Charlotte Mecklenburg Virtual High School. Students must be in good academic standing to obtain their eligibilty certficate. Eligibility forms are available for pick up on Wednesdays from 9 AM to 2 PM.

It's not a trial! Students and teachers are eligible for Office 365 for Education, which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and now Microsoft Teams, plus additional classroom tools. All you need to get started is to enter a valid school email address.

When entering your email address, do not include the word "student." For example, a student with the email address 1234567@student.cms.k12.nc.us would enter 1234567@cms.k12.nc.us
