Kindergarten: Hi Kindergarten Family, next week we will be focusing on Comparing and Contrasting stories being read. We also will be identifying similarities and differences between two stories. In Math we will find number partners to 10 using number bonds. Please continue to help your child study sight words, writing sentences, number recognition to 20 and counting to 100. Thank you for all you do for our students at WPS.
First Grade: Hello from First Grade! Next week, our focus will be sensory words in texts. In math, we’ll be working with numbers to 120. Please be sure your child is reading nightly, as well as studying sight words. Sight word lists were sent home again this week.
Second Grade: Greetings from Second Grade! Next week we will identify the author’s main purpose in informational text. We will continue to work on adding three-digit numbers and begin to subtract three-digit numbers. We will switch to social studies and begin to study how various people and events in Black History have shaped America. Please continue to complete weekly homework assignments and read for at least 20 minutes each night.

Music: Students will be singing songs about Valentine’s Day, the “100th Day of School”, Black History Month, and Dental Health Month! We eagerly anticipate Riverside Middle School students coming to WPS. They will share the Chinese New Year Dragon which they are creating. We have been learning about China in all the Resource Classes! Our “Talent Show” will be on the night of the February 20th PTA.
Each February, the American Dental Association (ADA) sponsors National Children's Dental Health Month to raise awareness about the importance of oral health.
Developing good habits at an early age and scheduling regular dental visits helps children to get a good start on a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums.
The Friendly Dental Van will be returning to WPS on Wednesday February 14, 2024. This visit will be to complete care on those students that required more treatment as well as to provide the initial treatment to those students that registered and have not been seen.
