We have been digging into adaptations of living things. We started by exploring how different things adapt to survive in different habitats. We defined and explored both structural and behavioral adaptations. We completed an experiment in which we tried out a wide variety of tools that simulated different shapes and sizes of bird beaks. We discussed which beak shapes are best adapted to a variety of food sources. We also explored camouflage and how it helps animals survive.
On Thursday we had the pleasure of examining skulls from the science department. We tried to use our background knowledge and observable traits to identify each of the skulls. It was a great hands on experience and jump started great conversation.
