Girls: There will be a black drape for you to wear over your top - preferred tops would be a v-neck/tank top/cami. Boys: You need to wear a white collared shirt and a black tie.

12.2.22.- ASVAB Testing Juniors and Seniors - Dome

The FCS cooking classes had their yearly Thanksgiving feasts last week! Lots of hard work to enjoying time together around the table. Mrs. Clarey is very thankful for each one of them!

Ms. Kennedy's Dual Credit Spanish students did a fantastic job teaching Ms. Burke's class Thanksgiving vocabulary in Spanish. They were super creative and enthusiastic. Their "Pin the Feather on the Turkey" game was a big hit with her students.

Each year, the art classes and Spanish classes do a collaboration project to explore and celebrate el Día de los Muertos, or in English the Day of the Dead. This is a celebration that originated in Mexico in which people honor those who have passed. During the collaboration, Ms. Kennedy teaches about the history and significance of the celebration. After learning the importance of the holiday, typical activities that take place and common symbols and vocabulary associated with it, Mr. Mangiaracina leads students in making an art project to represent the celebration. This year students made mini-piñatas that had a skull on one side and a memorial to someone who has passed on the other. Students enjoy this collaboration every year!

NBHS Q2 PBIS Incentives

The SALTY Student Leadership Team met at the beginning of Quarter 2 and finalized the Q2 Incentives, planned some Freshman Seminar Topics (which will start the week of November 28th), and the Q2 Incentive Party.

9th-11th Grade students will take the Reading and Math MAP Benchmark Assessments when we return on November 28th.

Students that have been working in IXL that meet the Reading and Math Benchmark of 230 will earn a Semester Exam Coupon! Keep working on those skills, Pretzels!

9th -12th Grade students will take the Panorama Survey the week of November 28th. If you have not completed an opt out letter for the survey, and would like to have your student opt out, please email Mrs. Llewellyn by November 22nd, requesting the opt out letter.

The HS will dismiss for semester exams on Tuesday and Wednesday at 2:20. We have done this every year since we moved off of the block. On Tuesday, students that ride the bus go to the Dome and are supervised by a staff member until the buses arrive at 3:10.

Pretzel Twist Talks Episode 5

For this month we decided to interview some of the Elementary kids that we mentor! The mentoring program is when a group of NHS students go over to the elementary school and hang out with kids from all grades. They were so excited to dress up and take pictures so we found it fitting to ask them some questions!

The questions were:

• What is your favorite Halloween candy?

• What is your favorite Halloween color?

Check out the kids answers and there super cute Halloween costumes.

The Library Club will be running a school wide dinosaur hunt this month. Students who spot dinos on the loose during the school day can report them via the google form for a chance to win candy. Winners will be announced and prizes will be picked up in the library!!

Chapter 9 of the NBHS Student Handbook outlines the requirements for Student Incentives regarding how to earn Semester Exam Coupons: Prestigious Pretzel and Student Achievement on the SAT/PSAT. We have added an incentive for students in grades 9-11 that take the MAP assessment this winter! The information is outlined in the NBHS Daily Agenda that is shared with students each day in Advisory - the slide below explains the criteria.

Students that did not meet the grade level benchmark on the Fall MAP for Math and/or Reading have the opportunity to take the IXL Diagnostic Assessment to identify skills that need to be strengthened in an effort to support academic achievement. If students meet the Math and Reading benchmarks on the Winter MAP Assessment, they will receive a semester exam coupon! Details regarding what your child needs to do for IXL are explained below.
