Head Cheetah's Message
Families,
With Random Acts of Kindness Week, Valentine’s Day, and a celebratory parade for our Kindergarten Readers, this week was full of CARING acts at Memorial School! We hope your homes benefited from unexpected acts of kindness this week, too!
We are wishing everyone a wonderful long weekend. We trust that our students will return on Wednesday feeling healthy and re-energized as we inch toward March. On March 8th and 9th, we will be welcoming families into the building for Parent/Teacher Conferences. We can’t wait to celebrate your students’ successes with you! Please look for a conference sign-up sheet to be sent by your learner’s teacher.
Thank you for your partnership!

Memorial Cheetahs in Action
Our Profile of a Graduate Principle this month is CARING. We are teaching, modeling and encouraging students to care for one another.
Memorial students and staff created a Caring Circle that stretched around the entire perimeter of the building. Students passed hearts of kindness to one another around the building.
Our Kindergarten students finished their Super Reader literacy unit and celebrated all the reading powers they have learned!
Memorial Models
Memorial Models are chosen weekly by their teacher. These students have excelled all week in taking care of themselves, others, and things. The recipients will dine at a VIP table during lunch every Friday!

Pawsitive Office Referral
A PAWsitive office referral is submitted when a staff member recognizes a student who is going above and beyond to exemplify one of our three school rules - taking care of others, taking care of self, & taking care of things.
Grade 1 Deliver Valentines To Seniors
Grade one students collected and created 162 Valentines, which were delivered to our local senior center as well as senior centers in neighboring towns! Thank you to everyone who took the time to support our senior citizens! Our Valentines brought smiles to many faces. What a wonderful way to spread kindness.
Gym News
Hi Everyone! The past four weeks we continued with our ball skills units, still using our hands, moving into our beach ball volleyball section, a big favorite with the children. We focused on hand/eye coordination and various supportive skills, reaction time, and cooperative lessons. The children moved from individual work to partner opportunities and at the older grades, team skills and concepts. We have enough beach balls so that every child always has their own ball and is active and working at, or on something every minute of class. Also, nets are always adjusted to the appropriate height for your child.
BEACH BALL VOLLEYBALL SKILLS TAUGHT.
1- Two handed over the head (set) and underhand. (bump).
2- Volley work ( with and without nets)
2- Overhead and Underhand Serves.
3- Jump Serve (Grades 2 and 3).
4- Blocking and Spiking ( Grades 2 and 3)
5- Last week of the unit, modified games were played. ( Grades 2 and 3).
The children’s effort and improvement was Outstanding!

Nurses Notes
Dear parents/guardians,
Please bring in a change of clothes as well as socks and shoes for your child to keep at school. Also, snowpants and snowboots are needed in order for them to play out in the snow. The nurse's office has very limited supply of spare clothing to donate. We would also appreciate any gently used donations of boys size 8 and up sweatpants/joggers and girls size 8 and up leggings.
Thank you for your assistance.
