Brewer Track Meet Results
The Lady Roo track teams traveled to Brewer last night for the Ben Davis Relays. The varsity team showed an impressive team performance finishing 2nd out of 9 teams.

Fightin' Roo Band Drums Up Success
7 students received a 1st division superior rating on a class 2 solo of intermediate difficulty.
60 students received a 1st division superior rating on a class 1 solo of advanced difficulty. Of these 60 students, 33 are advancing to state (last year 27 advanced to state).
66 students received a 1 on a class 1 ensemble of advanced difficulty and will advance to state. Ensembles typically consist of 3 to 6 students. Last year, 58 students advanced.
Southwest Ford Classic Baseball Tourney Results
The Kangaroo's played double headers the last weekend in February, beating Brownwood 9-2 then losing to Ennis 6-2 on Friday. Then beating Birdville 10-3 then losing 12-8 to Crowley High.
Outstanding players of the tourney were Preston Edison, James Moreno, Ryan Spindler, Waylon Widler, Demarcus Gratts, Zach Swain, Hunter McMillian, Lukas Loran, Nick Rodriquez, Cade Spooner, Chance Ragsdale, Blake Burrows, Amon Pool, Cody Henderson, Pierce Morris, and Mason Zamarron.
JV Baseball Tournament Results
The Weatherford JV travelled to Arlington Heights to play 4 games in a round robin baseball tournament. Although the Roos had a slow start the Roos won games three and four against Arlington Heights and Brock.
Outstanding players were: Asher Zapata, Colton Manning, Josh Brown, Phillip Zamarron, Ashton Ross, Mason Riney, Ty Garner, Marc Heierman, Chris Molina, Peyton Hudson, Jacob Broomes, Jake Spooner, Grant Baldwin and Brady Nelson

Available Scholarships
Attention Seniors – Scholarship season is here! Did you know that last year’s senior class was awarded over $3.5 million dollars in scholarships? Let’s make this year the best year ever for scholarship awards. Many scholarships have deadlines coming up right away. Scholarships are available for all students who have a desire to attend college. Go to the Counseling Office often to get the latest information on scholarships and pick up applications.
Weatherford/Parker County Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Scholarship: NAACP is offering a $500 scholarship to a WHS senior who plans to attend Weatherford College. Students must have a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale, take at least 12 hours at Weatherford College, and will need two letters of recommendation. Students will also need to submit an essay entitled, “If given the ability to change one moment in your life, would you do so? If so, what moment would you change and why?” This scholarship is open to students of all races. The deadline for submission is April 30, 2017, and students may pick up an application in the Counseling Center.
Pure Truth Scholarship: Two $1,000 scholarships are available for Parker County graduating seniors who have had a positive influence on their peers based on their character and integrity. Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 GPA scale, complete an application, enclose five letters of recommendation based on character, enclose a copy of their transcript, agree to a personal interview, and write a personal essay of 600 words or less. The essay topic is “How have you been a change agent of positive influence on your peers?” Students may pick up an application in the Counseling Center and the deadline to apply April 6, 2017.
