A Message from Mrs. Caudill
I hope everyone had a fantastic winter break. I hope it was everything you had hoped it would be. I found joy in being able to unplug, relax and focus on my favorite job, mom.
At Amerman, we are excited to begin a new year. This year our goal is to continue helping our students learn all of the important things they will need to be successful learners! We are passionate about learning and everyone at Amerman; classroom teachers, humanities teachers, building aides, playground aides, custodians, and office staff, want you to know that we are committed to providing your child/children a positive and fun place to learn
Please keep an eye on the weather each morning and make sure your child brings boots, snow pants, hats, gloves, scarves, etc. to school for the next few months when needed. Unless the temperatures/windchill are below zero, students go outside for a much-needed fresh air/movement break.
Stay warm,
Devon Caudill

New Sensory Path
Thanks to the NEF we installed a new sensory path in our gym hallway over Winter Break. A sensory path guides students through different movement that help clear some of the neurological "roadblocks" that can negatively impact students' ability to focus and attend to a task. Taking two minutes to move through a sensory path where students work through a series of movements help decrease sensory seeking behavior and increase cognitive ability. Additionally, it's just fun :)
Throughout the week we have seen students hop, tiptoe, squat, and jump all with a smile on their face. We are so grateful for this new addition at Amerman.

HABIT 4 - THINK WIN-WIN!
During the Month of January we will be working on Habit 4: Think Win-Win this month. Everyone can Win!
What this means: Think about others as well as yourself. Long-term relationships require mutual respect and mutual benefit.
“I make deposits into others’ Emotional Bank Accounts.”
“When conflict arises, I look for third alternatives.”
“I balance courage for getting what I want, with
consideration for what others want.”
How can I do this in my life?
1. Live by the Golden Rule- Treat others the same way you want them to treat you.
Great Books for Habit #4- Think Win Win
The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister
Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes
Lilly’s Big Day by Kevin Henkes
Alexander and the Wind-Up Mouse by Leo Lionni
